COVID-19 — Coronavirus

Never mind yesterday, thousands out at the "sales" today where they are open, busy shopping centres etc, and no doubt packing pubs in liverpool.

Complete selfish, irresponsible, and thick as pigshit wankers.

I saw the Tier map this morning, all red apart from the yellow dot that is Merseyside.....wtf is that about?

My daft mates have been there as ofen as they can, they are far from alone.

Thought I'd check if this was associated with COVID, or just general stuff. The internet helpfully identified my symptoms as commensurate with a cerebral spinal fluid leakage, probably fatal etc. As a confirmed hypochondriac, this year has been a proper nightmare.
lol

The worst week of my life in terms of illness.

We had to call an ambulance out to me on Xmas Eve night just before midnight.

It was so upsetting for wife and kids, couldn't stop coughing and my temp was at 38.4.

The paramedics were first class and could see I was conflicted about going to hospital and potentially be asked to stay in for a few hours.

I'd not even gone into the loft to get the Xmas presents down and that was also praying on my mind, which might sound stupid to many.

They checked my blood pressure and oxygen levels and had me walk up and down our stairs a couple of times.

In the end they prescribed me some antibiotics for a possible secondary chest infection and told me to go straight to A&E if things got worse.

Walking up and down a loft ladder at 1am in the morning and bringing down sacks of presents is not something I would ever want to repeat or recommend.

Wife did her first Xmas Dinner and I managed to eat some and make the best of it with her and the kids.

I just can't shake the terrible thirst during the night and heat and cold sweats.

I've tried sleeping on my stomach, just to try and open my airways and am now into my seventh day.

Coughed up some blood in the shower this morning but it was filled with muscus and spit also after I deliberately tried to hack something up.

I don't mind admitting, this whole thing has shaken me to my core and scared the absolute shit out of me. I'm a fit guy, albeit, 46, with no underlying health conditions.

My wife and son come out of their own isolation today and they were pretty much recovered within four days and just lethargy.

My mum and dad watched from the road as my kids opened their presents in the front window.

It was heartbreaking, but it was the best we could do and it kept my folks safe.

It is a horrible, nasty virus which grabs a hold of you in so many different ways, next time you might hear someone talk about it with any degree of flippancy, walk away in the opposite direction - quickly!
Sounds shocking. Hope you’re through the worst of it mate. It just shows you don’t have to be elderly and have underlying health conditions to suffer badly with it.

As I keep posting Manchester has beaten or been level with Liverpool on cases or pop score rise every day for a week now. Same again today. And Wirral had more cases today than any borough in GM and has been rising fast too.

The data most people see is a week old.

A week is a long time in a pandemic as well as in politics.

If you really get stuck with itchy skin, germalene has a local anaesthetic. I used to use it for eczema.

My nose and eyes have been itching for months now. That and the runny nose. Random nosebleed last night as well, from the same bit right at the back of my nostril that used to itch all the time and just ended up aching. Thought I'd check if this was associated with COVID, or just general stuff. The internet helpfully identified my symptoms as commensurate with a cerebral spinal fluid leakage, probably fatal etc. As a confirmed hypochondriac, this year has been a proper nightmare.
Glad you finished your post before popping your clogs. Get well soon hopefully for new year so we can show this fucker the door

So,when do we get to see the fallout of yesterday and all the dickheads who couldnt help themselves?
Between 5 days to 12 weeks and onwards.

From exposure to symptom onset is typically 5-6 days after infection.
From symptoms to recovery for mild cases is 2 weeks.
From symptoms to recovery for severe cases is 3-6 weeks.
From symptoms onset to death is from 1 week (critical) to 2-8 weeks.

But that’s only the first person getting it from source. It can be the secondary and tertiary people removed from the source infection that carry on spreading it and who get the worst of it.

I’m absolutely amazed that people would go to the sales after what’s gone on. ‘Buy some crap no one else wanted and get COVID for free!’

People didn’t have to go.

I’ve been partaking in Black Friday and Boxing Day sales for years, but never physically been to a shop on those days; just done it all online.

If the govt says a popular mass participation event can go ahead, then people will go to it.

If it's safe, as govt says, why shouldn't people go?

Worth remembering they are allowed to legally to do all of this under current Government legislation.
So are they solely to blame?
In fact who shoulders most blame?

Looks like a lot felt the same as you.

If I’m understanding that is saying footfall across the UK including areas with shops shut. Where people could go doesn’t sound like it’s down.
Never got boxing day shopping myself anyway, why on earth anyone would want to spend it jostling in shops and sitting in traffic is beyond me.

No accusations to the knob head Covidiots who spread it around like confetti because they couldn't give a schidt?
It wouldn't matter who was in charge because of them.

People don't magically choose their behaviour.

Britain doesn't have more idiots than anywhere else. We're not uniquely stupid.

Britain does have more dead than almost anywhere else.

I've just read an interview with the CEO of Astra Zeneca Pascal Soriot in the Times (behind paywall so won't bother linking it). He is very confident about the efficiency of their vaccine and he has champagne in the fridge awaiting approval. He also makes the point that no-one in any age group who had the vaccine was hospitalised or died even if they caught Covid. He did say that they are looking at modified versions just in case but he doesn't think they will be required.

He has been made Sunday Times Business Person of the Year because of his commitment to sell the vaccine at cost to low and medium income countries in perpetuity.
