Dad is a teacher who is against schools opening and has written a scathing letter to the education minister

Some pics that might be upsetting

This is still VERY rare but signs to look out for is recovery from covid then this, rashes , dark strawberry tongue, looks how it sounds if you don't want to look at the pictures, high temperature, sickness, hands and feet go red, they called that covid toe,i had it,it doesn't hurt just looks like it should

Come on Scarlett, you can do it

But but children don't get it or spread it?!?!

I see that the Grauniad is complaining about the UK introducing quarantine measures.
Seriously?
They're going to be introduced to help stop a second wave. The only issue is that they weren't put in place before half term in February
Just fly via Dublin.

And until that happens people should be nowhere near a road designed for people.

If a person is to be on the road the following should happen:

Insurance
Helmets and hi Vis mandatory
Bells/horns mandatory
Lighted indication
A test to pass

If they want to be in the same space as people then they should be subjected to the same rules and regulations.

With a passion, I cannot stand people.

I'll acknowledge that there is limited space and facilities so riding on a road is the only option.

My argument is that option should be removed until such time as something like fucking cycle paths are installed nationally

Cyclists are better off on the roads than shared canal paths, footways and the like I agree. I avoid them like the plague. Get on the road

There are endless country lanes close by the cunts could ride to their hearts content, but no they have to use the footpaths by the river. Selfish attention seeking cunts. They even come up behind ringing their fucking bell wanting you to move aside to let them pass. Wankers each and every one of them.

That didn't need stating mate.

You should get yourself a bicycle and enjoy the exercise. It might give you an insight to the other side of the coin.
I spent 2 hours yesterday out in the sunshine on a mixture of roads, paths, tracks and lanes. all shared with other users including the usual errant toddlers and teenagers walking 5 abreast. No harm came of it and everyone looked out for each other.
A joyous escape from the current norm.

I have a bike. It’s an indoor one. Enjoyed 25k yesterday. Plenty of exercise.

I also enjoyed the great outdoors. 7 mile of it. On foot.

Im one of the fittest people you will meet.

Never, ever would you catch me on a road with a bike.

Thanks for asking.

I'm chewing over William Davies's essay in Saturday's Guardian Review (not online it seems) about the NHS suddenly being flavour of the month among people who quite fancied demolishing it or selling it off.

Also, Covid affects Brexit Britain less than the Remainer cities (centres of international connectivity and commercial activity where the virus would spread more than in Leave areas where disconnection and alienation reduce the risk of infection). Bit of a leap to a conclusion there, but I think he's right about rightwingers who "gave not a hoot for GDP when it came to Brexit suddenly expressing their concern for Britain's economy when it comes to coronavirus". And that Johnson and Trump represent people who believe in hard work but don't do much of the unpleasant stuff themselves, either for reasons of wealth or age (so aren't bothered about the risks to those doing the work).

He also cites David Edgerton's "The rise and fall of the British Nation" which suggests Britain as a post-imperial nation state was a project of Labour rather than the Conservatives, pointing out that the 1945 manifesto creating the NHS used "socialist" or "socialism" three times but "nation" or "national" nearly fifty. I'd never realised that.

You did ask.
You ever thought about taking a day off?

Did 3hrs on the bike yesterday on the gloriously quiet roads. Was bliss, very little traffic, nobody blaring their horn impatiently as they somehow think they have a divine right to get nowhere fast. Will be doing the same again later today, firstly with the kids, nice and slow around the streets near me (apologies in advance any driver that has to wait a minute or two), then out on my own and up to Woodford, Siddington, and back through Wirley. Great to see so many people out on their bikes. Let's hope we see more and that people choose this increasingly as their mode of transport. Cycling's great.

Thread Seems to have an epic derailment!.

My 2p worth on cyclists.

Some are OK, Some are total bell ends. far too many just cut through red lights/ Hammer through zebra crossings, cycle the wrong way up 1 way streets etc like the rules dont apply to them,

I do honestly think cyclists should have to have some sort of licence to cycle on roads to prove they know the highway code and can act responsibly.

However having grown up in a new town where there were lots of dedicated cycle paths, I can say for sure we need to invest massively in those, a place for bikes that isn't a path or a road.
