Tourism? There will be nowt left.

Why is someone coming here from a country with R less than ours more likely to spread it than anyone already here?
What about tourism? I merely stated now is the time to screen people coming into the country. Granted you have to prioritise countries that have a higher R. Which actually will be the poorer countries. Then we will be accused of being racist.

It makes me laugh that the chattering classes are more worried about their foreign holidays than they are about the ability of the UK to withstand the onslaught of the 2nd wave of this virus.

It really is pathetic.

I’ve always been amazed by the Brits obsession with a week in the sun and this lockdown has really highlighted it.

Not sure why you’re surprised, most people get a certain amount of holidays a year and due to their mundane lives, a fortnight in Spain with the family is the one thing they have to look forward to.

Sensing a slight change in tone from Devi here, that she believes there's a chance that the scientists who believe it's on its way out *might* be right. But either way, she's absolutely correct in how we, both the UK and it's devolved parliaments should be conducting themselves right now. If the 'second wave' doesn't take place then brilliant, but it's absolutely vital that we should be preparing in the assumption that it will.

the economic effect of a second wave would be worse than the virus itself.

The elderly would simply have to isolate and the rest would have to go back to work.

If we were forced into such a lockdown as this, yes, but if its managed properly by learning lessons from various countries in both Asia and Europe then its avoidable. Mass testing, quick results, contact tracing, PPE in plenty of stock for those who need it etc

I think we'll need more of our money to pay for the financial fallout from this pandemic.

I did run around my town centre.
Newsagents, Wilkinsons, pound shops, supermarkets, DIY stores, garden centres, Matalan was open, bedding shop I saw open. McDonald’s up the road for takeaways, Load of cafes open for takeaways etc.
How are they social distancing? Are they queuing round the corner? Tbh I think everything is falling apart and the weather doesn’t help, I actually thought it may change people but I guess that was wishful thinking, people out there are mainly still selfish twats.

I imagine Nigel Pearson actively looking for the virus, having one last look in each room
as he closes the door. Offering the bastard out under his breath.
Forget T cells and anti-bodies Pearson will sort this mess out.
