COVID-19 — Coronavirus

Covid has only been around for 10 weeks so that would equate to 5 10 people hit by lightning and 33 dead from Covid = 6.6 3.3 times higher

Again 40 80 dead under the same time frame as Covid = 6.3 3.15 times higher.

So Covid-19, in a society with all the restrictions imposed for the last 10 weeks, produces a slightly lower death toll than a bad influenza year, where no restrictions were imposed at all.

And you extrapolate this data to mean Covid-19 isn't that bad?

Edited: Thanks to @the-ecstacy-of-eight for the fact checking!
Well fucking said.

No they don't, not everyone drives and it is certainly not a legal document to prove who you are for lets say a bank loan. As I alluded to most civilised countries have I.D cards, Germany for example have an Ausweis which they produce at a Bank and can travel around Germany on planes etc. It makes it so easy for transactions etc and more importantly averts fraud.
In Spain they have an NIE that iis like a NI number but it duplicates as a unique tax number and appears on driving licence, health card etc. and is asked for in shops when purchasing anything above 5 or 6 hundred euros. Certainly all purchasers of say second homes in Spain need one irrespective of nationality and car purchase has a similar requirement.
Issued at main police stations and needs bank account details to be provided, again to prevent fraud etc..

They wouldn’t but most people in the shop should just be a passing contact either at 2 metres or with a mask. Closer contacts who you’ve spent more time with would be traceable.
How?
There is no app available so they can only go off interviewing you when you report symptoms and trying to contact people who you know and have been in contact with and are prepared to admit to the contact.
Don’t self report - useless but naughty you
Get contacted but refuse to disclose contacts - naughty you
Get contacted but refuse permission for tracer to speak to someone in your family under 18 - naughty you
been on a bus for over 15 minutes - useless
On a train for over 15 minutes - useless
In a cab for over 15 minutes - useless

The South Koreans had already had this discussion and introduced legislation that prioritized public health over privacy; it's a key reason why they could utilize apps and combat the virus so aggressively. We often heard that Britain couldn't endure a lockdown because it's not that kind of society, but the vast majority of people demonstrated that they are willing to make enormous sacrifices to save the lives of others. Perhaps it would thus be opportune for politicians to debate the issue and see what could be done just in case a second wave does strike.
Not just public health that benefits neither, anti-terrorist measures are also helped.

Interesting to read that people are happy to hand over their liberties to the government long term to help out a few people short term.
We don’t really have any liberties to start with.

We have to get up most days a week to go to work (well we do when not in lockdown) to pay for food, shelter, health and safety... and we’re already taxed before we can even pay for any of that; just to make the economy of the country tick over and keep the richest people in society rich and get richer.

Liberty is doing whatever you like, but unless we have the money to pay for it we can’t do it.

Everytime we switch our phone, tablet, laptop, computer or tv viewing box on; we are being tracked and monitored. Everything we ever search for, anywhere we ever go and everything we ever watch is tracked and most likely stored on a database.

Anytime we use our debit or credit cards to pay for things, what we buy is recorded and likely stored in a database. Even if we use cash, we are clocked on CCTV buying whatever it is we’ve bought.

The only liberties we have is the free time we get in the evenings and weekends, as long as it doesn’t involve using any technology or buying anything. Even then we can’t stay out too late because we’ve got to be up for work the next day to keep getting those richest richer.

Thanks.
So Big Brother is watching us, maybe George Orwell was right after all.
What a fucking joke.
If it could potentially save you and your friends / family from death is that not a good thing in the current climate. Everyone praises the likes of Singapore for how they have dealt with the virus yet over here whatever the government proposes people pipe up to say it’s wrong. No alternative just that it’s wrong. Don’t know about you but I want to get back to living my life relatively normally. If this helps in any way then I don’t have a problem
