See Japan has reported their highest daily number of infections since the pandemic began. Another country - like Australia - who have been widely praised for their efforts in containing their epidemic.

Also, it is a ghetto of Victoria where the virus has spread fast. These tower blocks with lots of poor peole living close together seems to be ideal ground for spreading the virus. Some of the residents may share transport and work together too.
 
This new graph shows some interesting trends.
We've been repeatedly told that mask wearing countries were dealing with this virus better than us. (excluding China's figures, that are frankly unbelievable/fake)
I would say that all the world data is not the most reliable, whether that be by falsifying records or lack of testing. So like all graphs they could be way off the mark.
By the look of it, the only reason they appeared to be doing better was by locking down earlier. And as expected, they are then suffering an upsurge later. They are still wearing masks, so why the upsurge in Asia?
IE, we are all going to feel the same pain, it's just when/timing.

The Oceania numbers do seem to point to temperature/outdoor life style being of benefit. If true, a winter second wave could be a possibility.
So until a vaccine is available, is a slow herd immunity still a stupid idea, or a long term outcome?

Why the decline in effectiveness?
Masks are still effective and Far East numbers are nothing like elsewhere.
Most cases seem to link back to Bars, Restaurants and other enclosed areas like indoor markets where more people, mainly under 40, are being careless.
Remember in most places in the Far East they never locked down in the first place.

One thing this crisis has exposed is how little appears to be understood about virus' in the scientific community, especially how they transmit and the long term effects on the human body. I guess all the money that could be invested in proper research is spent on marketing the latest wonder powders (basically paracetamol and caffeine with some flavorings) that will enable us to soldier on and spread it to our friends and colleagues who themselves will spend money on said wonder cure.

It has certainly shown how scientific / health ideology trumps scientific evidence and common sence - with at least 60% more cases and deaths in the UK as a result.
1. The virus is not airborne. (It is - just not as much as some other viruses). WHO finally agrees it is airborne on the 6th of fucking July.
2. Face coverings and masks won't stop an individual catching the virus. (Trueish. A mask only gives an individual limited protection - what it does do is majorly prevent the wearer spreading it to others.) US CDC states the truth of it in the 3rd week of April. It takes WHO till early fucking June to agree. But the damage has been done and remains done as many people still parrot the original ideology.
