New cases 767 from 157, 229 tests.

140,779 of these pillar 1 & 2.

Last week 157, 257 pillar 1 and 2 (so 17K more) found 827 cases.

Remarkably the last three days have registered 769, 768 and 767 new cases - in descending order!

Our regional scoreboard matches that equanimity too.

London 66 (down from 73)

West Midlands 102 (double yesterday - the main anomaly)

Yorks & Humber 109 (up from 102)

And North West top dog again with its second worst total of 180 (down from 188)

It is a grim scoreboard for Greater Manchester with Stockport continuing to head into unchartered territory from being the lowest numbers in the region a week or so ago. Hope someone in authority is noticing and looking into why.

But Stockport is not alone.

Bolton 13 (up from 5, equalling its worst a few days ago - 157 in three weeks new data - 52 over past week)

Bury 2 (doing well and stable, 53 in the three weeks - 18 in past week - new best in GM leader)

Manchester 29 (by far its worst number, up from 16 - 278 in the three weeks - 94 over past week - half that in last 2 days)

Oldham 7 (well down from 25 - 182 in the three weeks - 92 over past week - 52 over past 3 days)

Rochdale 11 (down from 18 - 283 in the three weeks - 96 over past week)

Salford 11 (its highest in a week - 108 in the three weeks - 48 over past week)

Stockport 11 (up from 7 and first double figure number from 1s and 2s in past - 70 in the three weeks - 33 of them over past week and 18 last 2 days - moving from amber to red on watch)

Tameside 5 (level - 70 in the three weeks - now level with Stockport after their crash lately - 22 over past week)

Wigan 8 (its highest number yet too costing it top spot to Bury - 54 in the three weeks - 16 over past week - 12 in last 2 days)

Other hot spots on watch.

Leicester down slightly from 39 to 34

Bradford up from 23 to 35

Blackburn down from 24 to 14

Hope Andy Burnham is watching this not waiting until next Friday when the weekly data is fed to him.

The 25 England hospital deaths btw were aged between 52 and 93 and all had known underlying conditions.

UK Covid hospital patients on Beta as of 23 July 1445 (down 192 in one day).

England ventilator patients fell by 10 yesterday (and 19 in two days) and as of today is just 82

That is a drop of 36 in the past week. Great news.

Unsurprisingly given new cases are highest here the North West saw hospital Covid patient numbers rise slightly today from 220 yesterday to 224 today. Though still 10 down on 7 days ago.

Patients on ventilators in NW rose by 1 today too to 17. Whereas they are dropping elsewhere.

London for instance fell from 32 to 17 in past week. And have just 87 patients in hospital.

But this means over a quarter of all patients in hospital in England with Covid right now are from the NW.

Again hope Andy Burnham has someone telling him these things

I may have missed an explanation, and apologies if so, but why isn't Trafford included in the GM figures?
