COVID-19 — Coronavirus

I don’t think tens of thousands will die, the lockdown allowed the virus to be incubated in people and die out naturally, sure there will be cases but like flu it will be a constant, do we close down forever if there is no cure, going of the slow lifting how long do we go in for? Come November when the furlough is lifted and we end up with millions been unemployed because firms will just fold I reckon suicides will far out way Covid deaths. All these local lockdowns etc arent even doing what they are supposed to because no one is enforcing anything. Look at the countries we can’t travel back from because their rates going up, why are they up because of testing, yet how many are going to and from Turkey, I find it hard to believe they don’t have a high rate, yet because they probably aren’t testing properly they aren’t in the quarantine list, yet I know where I’d feel safer going to.

Suicides already do and have done for a while. 20 a day is the average I read today.

Finally the regional hospital data - not good news for the North West.

P - Patients - yesterday v today and - V - (Ventilator beds) yesterday v today

East England P 28 / 29 (up 1) and V 3/3

South East P 33 / 35 (up 2) and V 4/ 5 (up 1)

South West P 11/10 (down 1) and V 2/2

London P 76 v 78 (up 2) and V 13/12 (down 1)

Midlands P 84 v 83 (down 1) and V 9/9

Yorkshire P 81 v 83 (up 2) and V 11/11

And North West P 112 / 124 (up 12) and V 17/16 (down 1).

So by far the biggest patient rise is in the North West in past 24 hours and it represents a rise week on week of 39 from 85 last Thursday to 124 today.

124 is the highest number in NW hospitals for almost 3 weeks

It's also the 4th highest number they've ever had in the whole pandemic.
Even higher today at 8959, that is a mess. The death rate on the day it reached that level in March was about 150 (it was a bit up and downso picked an average), today it was 40, but 3 weeks later it was nearing 1000 per day, so it will be interesting to see the death numbers in Spain in 3 weeks time to compare.

The latest update to 30 Aug on the postcode map data means we can see more about the Bolton outbreak last weekend.

Breightmet & Darcey Lever at 20 was the largest but other areas around it were increasing.

Tonge had 16, Breightmet North had 12 as did Hall in the wood.

Several others had 10 including Central Bolton.

Yep and the lockdown worked in stopping that, the only reason we went into lockdown was to help the nhs cope, if we had the capacity we would’ve stayed open and carried on, now we have, get on with life, will we see a spike in winter, of course because every flu death will be recorded as Covid, I'll ask again at what point can the majority of us return to normality, 1,2 3 years down the line because of 1 death a week? What if there is no vaccine, what happens if it mutates like flu does?

What is it you want to do now that you can't already do?

Go to gig, festival, football match, few bars with mates, holiday, day out without planning weeks in advance as everywhere is reduced capacity, see people back working who can't afford to pay bills, the list goes on and on. If anyone's life was the same as this a year ago then they must have lived a pretty boring life.

Christ.

To be fair, I'd quite like to hug my family. Or be indoors with them legally/safely. Let's not pretend life is as it was - it clearly, clearly isn't. Not if you're following the rules anyway.
