Unfortunately the England hospital data today is a slight concern as you will see. Might be the first hint of evidence that cases are translating into deaths.

Or hopefully it is just a one off blip. That's the best case scenario. And it could prove to be just that over next few days.

There were 11 deaths - compared with 10 last Friday - but SIX on one day - just two days ago. Which is certainly unusual in the levels we have been seeing recently.

3 of the 11 were from the NW and the 6 two days ago were 3 from Yorkshire, 2 from NW and 1 from Midlands.

Scotland data is very concerning too for a different reason.

O proven deaths (though one that may be added as it is referred to but not added to the number).

But 159 new cases at a rather disconcerting 1.6% of the number of tests done. Highest in quite a while.

258 in hospital (-1) and 4 still in icu ventilators.

There was no briefing today so this is all I can find so far.

A week ago the numbers were 0 deaths, 51 cases at 0.6% of tests., 255 in hospital and 3 in icu.

N Ireland sadly another death here (these were non existent for months and are now happening every few days which is indeed a worrying development).

Better news on cases - a little down to 61 cases at 0.8% of tests.

Still 17 in hospital and 3 on icu ventilators.

The weekly running total of cases is 439 - a little down.

Last week there were 0 deaths. 85 cases at 1.2 %. 17 in hospital and 2 on icu ventilators. And the running total for the week of cases was 431.

The England hospital deaths are as follows:

3 Sep adds 0 = 0 after one day.

2 Sep adds 6 = 7 after two days - this is the highest second day number since 7 on 17 August and it was last higher at 8 over a month ago.

1 Sep adds 0 = 3 after three days.

31 Aug adds 2 = 5 after four days.

30 Aug adds 1 = 3 after five days. Now 20 days since any five day total was above 9. Though 2 Sep already looks like ending that unless it has three very good days.

The other 2 are from over two weeks ago and did not add enough to put any day into double figures And one of the two was over a month ago so may not even make it to the all settings total.

So the UK hospital death number today seems to be 12 - possibly 13. Last Friday it was 10.

The later all settings total was 9.

Cases last week without England was 170 and became 1276 for the UK later when the England cases were added.

So far today (without England) we are at 271 - one of the highest yet from the other three nations. So we may have another recent high in total cases when England is added.

159 new infections in Scotland today.

7 in people over 65
31 in people younger than 20, including four 0-4 year olds
121 in 20-64 year olds.

Not that we need any more bad news today but another notable rise in cases again - new record two days running at 1940. Means at well over 1600 the most from England in months.

Which almost inevitably is bad news for the NW.

Though the government website - shock news - has crashed again!

Definitely ramping up again now. Outbreak in a pub in Warrington that has had to close. Warrington gone from a very low 6 cases to 38 last week and that is without the pub cases. Some schools closed in France again!
