COVID-19 — Coronavirus

Looking like the easing down may be halted after a huge rise in cases (but again, we'll need to see how they translate).
I'm amazed at the Vietnam stat from yesterday and even other countries seemingly 'back on their feet'.
My brother lives in Geneva and things are pretty much normal there...obviously a whole load of parameters going on here and in France, Spain et al.

My boy went in this week but he's developed these huge anxities about going back in (whether that's down to the huge break since he was last in, I'm not sure). His sister had the same issues (but later diagnosed as autistic) and subsequently never went back to school from age 11 (this would be her final year in high school).

I'm not sure if anyone has tried home schooling but it's extrarordinarily difficult (it's the relationship...I could never teach him sports - he had to go somewhere to learn).
The year that keeps on giving...

Nicola Sturgeon says the Scotland national total is just under 20 cases per 100,000 people.

She 'would love to believe that something has happened to the virus to make it less deadly - but we have no evidence for that.'

AND warns, as I did above, that it is NOT true that hospital admissions and deaths are not rising. They are. Just slowly. And she does not want to be here in a few weeks describing grim figures every day. So will take action.

Her scientist says 'no evidence the virus is milder' and 'it can kill people in their 30s'.

Cited that around 40 people are dying in Spain and they and France are a week or two ahead of Scotland.

Nicola Sturgeon warns they now may well have to cancel the planned easing of restrictions.

I do not think football crowds will be happening any time soon now there or in England.

Not entirely sure about Scotland, but we‘ve already seen that if there’s financial benefits to something like that happening, public health concerns are irrelevant.

I've been hearing a lot of this sort of thing recent, looks like a lot of the test centre have run out of tests ( or slots for doing tests ). distribution issues going on around the country. added onto that the test website keeps crashing. Yesterday ( maybe day before ) pretty much no one in London could book a test.

Story after story all over social media. It's certainly one way of keeping the cases down.

''This is a global pandemic' Nicola says. If people do not listen to advice 'we will have to look at doing other things instead;.

Cited the even bigger rise of cases in Ireland as concerning.

It is. AS I noted yesterday these were at single figures two or three weeks ago and are now in the hundreds.

Nicola says - 'Nothing would give me greater pleasure than never to have to give another Covid briefing in my life. But this is a moment where if we do not take decisive action the situation will continue to deteriorate.'

Why are no UK government 'leaders'' doing these briefings any more as people need leadership. And whatever you think of Nicola Sturgeon she has done this without flinching. It is what you have to do to lead people in a crisis - not just waffle around or disappear.

If you do that then why would you be surprised if people take the thing as no longer worth their time to bother about either and just go do what they like?

A journalist just asked her what implications she thinks this has for a 'no deal breakfast'. :)

He did correct himself afterwards.

Tories Value economy over lives / what simple drivel and you are a teacher? Scary the indoctrination of our kids by the left in education.

Yeah course, because one thing we all do is force our own opinions on the kids...just like the right.
