Doesn’t hurt the retired, not financially anyway as they still get their pensions, certainly doesn’t hurt the wealthy either.

You really have no f..king idea about being retired. Mrs Q and I spend our week at home trying to stay social distancing on the one day we go shopping. Apart from that we occasionally go out for a bit of exercise but apart from that it is a stay at home job, even my volunteer job at RSPB has gone. You need to try being at home all the time. At least we can live on the pension!!

Yes there were students on the new yesterday who had phoned 7 times in a day by the National track and trace people.

iIt’s interesting that Mayors oppose the new furlough scheme. Yesterday, I was chatting to somebody who works in a bar and will lose her job when the pubs are forced to close. She said the employer won’t furlough her because they would to top up her pay
They do not oppose it in principle. They say it is not good enough to save many businesses in the area.

Scottish data is bad again:

6 deaths (v 4 last week) (and 6 yesterday)

1009 cases (v 764 last week) (and 1246 yesterday)

At 14.1% (v 12.1% laast week) (and 16.2% yesterday)

432 in hospital (up 35 in day) (v 191 last week - more than doubled)

34 on ventilators (up 1) (v 23 last week)

I agree that the rich will come out of this still being rich, but that is nothing to do with Covid.

I initially responded to you because you certainly did infer that pensioners would not be affected, which you now clearly concede they will or may be.

I disagree with you about the government showing contempt for the younger population. I agree their message has often been reactive and at times, unclear but they are between a rock and a hard place, trying to spin plates that protects as many of the population whilst trying to maintain financials.

There are no easy answers and whichever route is taken, some will feel let down
Sorry mate but opening Uni’s then forcing them to stay one the inevitable rise in cases occurred was showing contempt. Closing the hospitality sector which mainly employs younger staff is showing them contempt. Telling people that they can only stay out until 10pm is showing them contempt.
Watching Johnson avoid the question regarding his own constituency but targeting the north is showing us contempt.
Blaming people for not wearing masks yet originally telling us they had no effect showed contempt.
Lying to us over the track and trace figures is showing us ALL contempt.
They’ve been a fucking shambles from the start and the opposition haven’t been any use either.
It’s no wonder people have had enough of it all, mixed messages, lies, U-turns, politicians doing they’re own thing and ignoring rules.
Fining takeaways for serving someone 4 minutes past 10, his receipt was issued at 10 but he had to wait for it to be boxed up, yet we hear they’ve been serving in Parliament after 10 until it got highlighted. All of that shows us contempt and how out of touch they are.

There’s the WHO saying today that lockdown only affects the poorest in society yet they’re continuing to do so in the poorest sectors of society.
They’ve been a disgrace, backed themselves into a corner and refuse to mow look at any other ways to deal with it.

Trying doing all that knowing you’ve just lost your job due to the government’s closure of the hospitality sector!! I’ve been furloughed since fucking March so know exactly what being stuck at homes like!!

England hospital death is bad again sadly.

60 deaths with 26 in the North West. Both new highs in recent months.

It was 41 deaths and 19 from the NW last week.

Details of the 60 England hospital data

9 Oct adds 6 = 6 after one day (this is lowest first day number this week).

8 Oct adds 28 = 35 after two days (second highest two day total since June - the highest being 7 Oct).

7 Oct adds 13 = 54 after three days (first time any day has gone over 50 at any point even following months of add ons since 24 June - and the highest three day total since 10 June)

6 Oct adds 6 = 45 after four days (highest four day total since 24 June).

5 Oct adds 0 = 34 after five days.

Other additions were 2 Oct adds 1 = 44, 1 Oct adds 1 = 42, 29 Sep adds 1 = 33, 27 Sep adds 1 - 33, 23 Sep adds 1 = 36

The other two date all the way back to March and mid April, so may be discounted.

Sadly it gets even worse:

Wales 21 deaths - highest here in many months - though they point out that many of them should have been added over the past 3 days to the 6 they did report over those days but there was a delay in accessing the data.

Either way the deaths in Wales are clearly now the worst in any UK nation per capita.
