Really confused and unhappy about the delay to the 2nd Pfizer dose. My parents get theirs (in Cambridge) this Sunday; the in-laws (in Kent) were due next week but just been postponed.

How can you have 2 different regimes for the same vaccine ? How do you explain this to confused folk in their '80s (let alone me !).

Did this get discussed at the press conference yesterday ? As usual I rely on BlueMoon for all my information and unbiased analysis.
You're right to be concerned regarding the Pfizer vaccine second dose as Pfizer have said their efficacy figures are based on two doses and they have no information regarding the efficacy of one dose.

It is. I went out for a walk today and thought back to walking during the first lockdown, and I felt almost at risk just walking on the canal paths. Now though it's as if the virus doesn't exist and as you say I've become desensitized to the whole thing, not just the data.

Been saying this for ages since the last lockdown and now we are tier 4. It doesnt seem anything like the first lockdown, lots of people out and about, traffic just like before covid19.
We were out for medical reasons, seeing as you are only meant to be out for food, medical or work.
And as for the wearing of masks thanet most have the most people suffering from asthma in the world, even more than liverpool training ground !.
Have been in tier 4 for 11 days now tier 4 seems no different to tier 3 apart from pubs etc.

I really can only see this getting worse so many people have become complacent towards the virus now.

My auntie lives on hear own and is now getting fed up even over xmas she only saw one of her sons due to the bubble

It did, everyone up to 4th Jan will stay on track, those after will be delayed, the vaccine people have said there is enough immunity by 3 weeks from one dose, that the second can be delayed, so they can get more first doses to more people.

They have but this slightly contradicts that.

‘In the briefing document the drug companies provided to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, they said about 80% of the patients who received the second dose were administered it within 10 weeks of receiving the first one.’

I assume it’s just them covering their backs with their official statement and as shown from the above figures it will offer protection for more than three weeks.

I suspect if we had a lot more supply of it we probably wouldn’t be changing the method.

I realise it’s not everyone but it’s obvious that there are a significant number of people in our country who really don’t give a fuck about the NHS or anybody they affect.. either that or we’re surrounded by a number of fucking imbeciles.. whichever it is it’s embarrassing
Both mate

Everyone with sense knows that. And that it will happen.

Delaying it is not far short of criminal imo and has been for weeks since it was long obvious and those who chose not to do it to 'make people happy' because it was Christmas will in due course face a terrible comeuppance.

My fear is we have weeks of rising tragic numbers still to come because of that delay.

And to those coming on late at night like they do sometimes to say hindsight. Who could predict? Etc.

This is no such thing. Read the thread. You will see many here calling for this and explaining why and what would happen if it did not occur - all over the past month.

This is a football forum not renowned for experts on science or politics. But if we saw it long ago and knew what would happen if the wrong choice was made then there are no good excuses for those who gambled with the lives of the people they supposedly serve.

It's totally negligent and the only reason we aren't in a lockdown is because the clowns in charge don't want to admit the tier system isn't working.

150k+ cases in the last three days. This is before the mix everyone has done over Christmas and the inevitable parties that will happen tonight.

I can't believe we aren't in a lockdown. Get people to stay at home and roll the vaccine out as quickly as possible.

They changed the dosing strategy yesterday. There is currently one dosing strategy for both vaccines. We get two doses but instead of 21 days apart it's now up to 12 weeks apart.

I think the argument is to surge as much vaccine as possible into people whilst we're facing a spike.

It makes sense. You reach more people over a period of time but those at the top of the list wont get the maximum immunity until a little later yet they think it will be adequate to prevent serious illness.

the idiots who will break rules will break them
no matter what tier we are in or lockdown. I read 4 percent will break rules tonight. Can’t legislate for the dumbest 4 percent of our society.

No of course you can't. But you can initiate a lockdown with strong leadership and say do things to deter people. Up the fines, fine everyone in a house who breaks the rules. This lack of leadership at the minute is akin to burying your head in the sand.
