I think it's necessary and we'll see far more of this in the future; this thing is likely to be around for a couple years minimum; the people were given the choice: behave or be told. We need to be told. Compare to Japan/South Korea where the people did / are doing what's asked.
Look, I know why you're saying you're uneasy; this is a massive change in the hand of power. I'm more than happy though to see it being used. We need it (but I do get your point).

Finally.

I agree it’s needed. My position is I’m glad the government gave the population the chance but over the weekend many behaved like fucking idiots, so he’s turned the volume up, quite rightly and he should do again, if people do not obey the new measures.

If the army have to arrest people and prison sentences are introduced then so be it.

But I really do not like us being in this position, I just appreciate we need to be.

Saving lives is paramount even if it encroaches civil liberties, at this time.

I said I was going to have the weekend off the news and on here but I kept on coming on.

After knowing what measures have been put in place and that they will last three weeks, I am going to have a day off completely tomorrow. Give my mind a bit of respite from it all. I’ve been all-consumed in this since early January! I’ve read about two dozen science articles and watched about sixty odd videos online about it.

Tomorrow is a day I’m switching off.

I’ll do that a few times a week from now on!
You need to mate. Too much of it gets you down. I had a total day off it today. It's hard when you're self isolating, but I managed it until about 6 when I thought I'd missed the daily briefing. Then I found out it was at 8.30 so I knew what was coming. Take a break and go for a long walk in the hills if you can

Apparently Labour are asking for the self employed to be funded 80% of their income based on the average of their last three years tax returns.

I wonder if anyone will complain that that doesn’t reflect their actual income

What happens if you've only just become self-employed? Not every business has three years of tax returns.

It’s not just the need to be told but by standing firm and putting restrictions in place would have showed the general public just how serious it was and how many lives were at risk. Instead they’ve sent mixed messages and allowed the people to police themselves resulting in a ‘it can’t be that bad attitude’ and ‘it’s only the flu’ and ‘it’s all media hype’ attitude. I knew it was getting serious a few weeks ago but by fuck did I sit up and take notice when the government here announced schools would be shutting the next day.

Clear as fucking day, people hear what they want to hear, do not go out unless absolutely essential. Anyway these even questioning are off their nut
"Travelling to and from work, but only where this is absolutely necessary and cannot be done from home."
In other words. If you can't work from home you can travel to and from work.

Can I repeat the request that political comment on the virus on any side is kept to the thread in the political forum please.

Its not that hard, so please take Diane Abbot there thanks.

No, you’re on here telling everyone that his message is crystal clear. We’re telling you it’s not. There isn’t a person earth that would say SD is an essential job or their staff are key workers, but they’re working tomorrow. And at 22:30 at night all my social media pages are full of people that haven’t a clue whether or not they should be setting alarms in the morning.

It’s quality mate he has been doing the big un telling everyone how simple it is and he has actually got it completely wrong himself, haha talking about dying on your arse.

Unsurprisingly this is a complete and utter clusterfuck.

And now Sports Direct are saying they’ll be open.

Here’s the simple truth: tomorrow they’ll be millions of people going to work, traveling on public transport, exercising in the streets and congregating in parks.

Complete lunacy.
Are you just as profligate with complaints on Spanish forums?
Or is it just the British and the British government you slag off?

We’ve tried to keep politics out of this thread, you seemingly want to mention them with every single post.

We have another thread for slagging off and hatred.

Hello? Hello? Hello?
Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me
Is there anyone at home?
Come on now
I hear you're feeling down
Well I can ease your pain
Get you on your feet again
Relax
I'll need some information first
Just the basic facts
Can you show me where it hurts?
Definitely not in the fucking brain cell department.

If you think about it all he has actually done is close some retail places that were mainly self closing anyhow. It’s really not a big step at all.

I think emergency services of all types

Police

Firepersons

Vehicle rescue

News

NHS workers

Bin men

Utilities companies

Anyone who can deliver food or essentials

Insurance companies

Builders working on essential work like hospitals

Drain unblockers

Road maintanience

Waste disposal

Teachers/people looking after kids of key workers

Banks

Railways

Airport

Ports

The infrastructure of the country needs maintaining, this is about people uneccessarily being out mixing with others ,if you sit on the end of a phone for a living then that can be done at home

Just my ideas not from boris

Companies are not helping the situation either, the company I work for has had meetings all day about what it was going to do, and by the end of the day all it had decided was that greed is good and as it is the end of the financial quarter and bonuses are riding on it then they are staying open . The workforce don't want to be there but we need the job and so guess what yep we're in tomorrow .
