COVID-19 — Coronavirus

The new strain isn't airborne.

The new coronavirus is spread through droplets and surfaces.

The principal mode of transmission is still thought to be respiratory droplets, which may travel up to six feet from someone who is sneezing or coughing. The new coronavirus isn’t believed to be an airborne virus, like measles or smallpox, that can circulate through the air. “If you have an infected person in the front of the plane, for instance, and you’re in the back of the plane, your risk is close to zero simply because the area of exposure is thought to be roughly six feet from the infected person,” said Chiu.

Close contact with an infectious person, such as shaking hands, or touching a doorknob, tabletop or other surfaces touched by an infectious person, and then touching your nose, eyes, or mouth can also transmit the virus.
No shit Sherlock.

Bollocks.
I was just pointing out ‘will be, will be’ people, if we are defining them the same way, tend not to be prepared for emergency or uncertain outcomes.

The missus is very much a que sera, sera type and I have to step in to handle quite a lot when there is an emergency or something goes badly.

I am not saying it is bad, per say, I am just pointing out it, well, will be. ;-)

It shows a lot about human nature these issues.

Greedy selfish people stock pile

Rumour mongers revel in it

Doom merchants love it

Head in the sand people

What will be will be people

Amazing
Put all the labels you want on people, they're all going to die.

i would like to know the deaths of influenza and Pneumonia already this year ? they say around 30,000 dies each year from Pneumonia and flu is the biggest trigger

Typical of you to imply that does not matter. The economy is not some imaginary thing which only affects other people and about which there are no adverse consequences if we fuck it up you know.

Mate do me a favour. As you ran crying to the mods and got me thread banned not long ago, do me the courtesy of ignoring my posts as I do yours. That way we can both enjoy and participate with no issues.

Yep. And Covid-19 has a higher R0 meaning it’s easier to catch and it’s fatality rate is at least a magnitude greater. And up to 4x worse than that (ie 40x more lethal than flu).

Happy days.

Why would it go in the summer?

The real answer is it's not the temperature that affects the spread of such diseases in the summer, it's the humidity. In dry air the drops evaporate faster plus they fall to the ground quicker because the air is less dense. So the radius that people can contaminate others becomes smaller. The same effect can happen in winter when cold dry air can predominate. As an example the flu season in northern Sweden is famously split in two: spring and autumn, with a dip in mid-winter.
Unfortunately that's bad news for the UK and Singapore where the humidity hardly ever drops very far. The good news is that when it rains the virus gets cleaned out of the air and swept away in the same way pollen does.

Premier league anouces it is open to playing games behind closed doors. It's coming by the sound of it.

Imagine waiting 30yrs to win the league, you are the runaway leaders and your fans are not there to witness it! How awful would that be?? I can only imagine lol.

That everyone else has to take care of when shit hits the fan.

I know, I live with one of them. ;-)

You can be what will be and still follow the guidelines. More of a non fret attitude. I'm washing my hands more and would stay at home when/If I get it. I work with the great unwashed so it will be visiting me at some point. May never happen though.
