Comfort as follows:
It seems to be past its peak in China.
The high death rates in Italy are still among the elderly and already ill (like flu)
The discrepancy between numbers may be due to the high numbers of infected folk who are unaffected or not really getting very sick at all.
No one in govt is going to gamble their career on predicting the course ov covid in the uk at this stage - it doesn't mean it's time to panic buy tin-foil to make hats.

we dont know these figure are reliable in China,China could easly say its clearing up the get the economy going again,there were reports that the death rate could have had a few more zeros at the end,the crematoria were working 24/7 according to an inside video of an undertaker, something has gone on in Italy with the figures,maybe because its a close contact country,think Germany now is our best option to monitor although were only around a week behind them catching up on figures

Given the number of posts/pages, I have managed to avoid reading any nonsense between posters - just reading every 5th page and looking for genuine information.

Generally I have just alighted on the informative posts and I must say that the thread has been informative to me - even if only some pointers have led me on to other articles - maybe I have been lucky.

But I do think that this is going to get a lot worse before it starts a road towards being resolved/finished. No science or knowledge behind that - just convinced that the 'undercurrent' from what I am hearing from government briefings is just part of a 'handling strategy'.

I have been moved to take steps to be able to isolate the our family of 3 for a month at minimum - and I have decided not to go up to the game today - so I must be taking it seriously!!

I just hope that my fears are not proven to be well-founded and in a few months I look back and think about what a mardarse I was
 
can someone point me in the direction of what exactly a virus is and what its on this earth for, so a virus invades the human body which in turn kills the body so in effect destroys itself,i know a virus has no brain and is acting on the DNA thats programed it, i cant think of anything else on this earth that would kill itself in the process of doing its job except a Japanese fighter pilot

Genuine question - what do you consider ‘foreseeable future’?

Have their been any cases at the school or in the local area?

Each to their own but unless you are keeping them in isolation in the house and away from any grandparents, it seems like a waste of time, effort and annual leave(assuming you in employment)
 
The virus does not kill.
The body’s immune system reacts leading to pneumonia and/or sepsis.
They kill.
The virus is on earth for the same reason you are.
To,procreate.
The most successful viruses act slowly in a living host allowing them to spread more easily host to host.

Nature is fucked mate and it’s the biggest argument against theism.

Crabs. Some crabs kill themselves whilst planting eggs in the sea. I saw it on telly on Friday night. They are based in Cuba and fall in the sea as they need to get close to drop the eggs in

Turtles as a species accept most will die from hatching, getting into the water and adulthood - hence they have hundreds/thousands of eggs

I accept that doesn’t entirely answer your question but it’s the best I’ve got
