Genuine question - what do you consider ‘foreseeable future’?

Have their been any cases at the school or in the local area?

Each to their own but unless you are keeping them in isolation in the house and away from any grandparents, it seems like a waste of time, effort and annual leave(assuming you in employment)

and trying to keep children indoors separate from their friends for any length of time is going to lead to mayhem!

Crabs. Some crabs kill themselves whilst planting eggs in the sea. I saw it on telly on Friday night. They are based in Cuba and fall in the sea as they need to get close to drop the eggs in

Turtles as a species accept most will die from hatching, getting into the water and adulthood - hence they have hundreds/thousands of eggs

I accept that doesn’t entirely answer your question but it’s the best I’ve got

crabs and turtles are not viruses...

can someone point me in the direction of what exactly a virus is and what its on this earth for, so a virus invades the human body which in turn kills the body so in effect destroys itself,i know a virus has no brain and is acting on the DNA thats programed it, i cant think of anything else on this earth that would kill itself in the process of doing its job except a Japanese fighter pilot

Male praying mantis don't they shag and then get eaten.

A virus doesn't die when you die it can transmit to other animals or humans in many cases

In on a short derby (i.e. City smashing the rags) viewing break from my birthday jollies.

No doubt I have missed a calm, reasonable, respectful, compassionate, practical, evidence-based discussion of COVID-19 without personal feuds, general handbags, and nutter theories disrupting the flow of the thread.

I've learnt that if you get run over it's important to know if it's by an Audi A4 or a VW Passat. Also if your odds of dying are 0.1% then that isn't too bad but if something else is say 0.01% then that 0.1% figure suddenly becomes very bad.

In fact you should shit yourself so much it is advisable to stockpile bog roll.

this is going to cause problems in the near future, unless the school is declaired clossed then your liable as a parent and will probably receive a fixed penalty ,one for each parent,to me its your right as a parent for you to decide and should not be the local councils, me i'd hang back untill a few infections start poping up locally then pull them out

Is there any sensible reasoning to say that pretty much the whole world won’t face the same levels of infection that China, and now are Italy, are suffering from?

The virus does not kill.
The body’s immune system reacts leading to pneumonia and/or sepsis.
They kill.
The virus is on earth for the same reason you are.
To,procreate.
The most successful viruses act slowly in a living host allowing them to spread more easily host to host.
You really need to learn to use the ‘reply’ facility.

The virus wants to find new hosts to continue its genes. When you pass it to someone else, it’s done it’s job.

what do you consider ‘foreseeable future’?.....Who knows but I would have thought all schools will be shut within the next month anyway

They will be kept in isolation in the house.

luckily I work from home which makes this possible.

Ultimately each person/Family has to make the best decision from themselves best on there individual circumstances

There have been people on the radio saying there had been people taken out of school because they’d been on the skiing trip to Italy but the rest were told to say. Some(understandably in my view) said they wanted to keep their kids off whilst they sussed out what was what - they were threatened with a truancy notice

I don’t currently see the benefit of taking kids out of school unless on the advice of medics.

Fair do’s

Have you spoken to other parents, are they taking similar measures where possible? What have the school said?

Enjoy your fines and possible court action.

Evidence of the sheer fucking stupidity gripping folk!

Listen mate I hope I am overreacting.

It's my job as the Father to my kids to keep them as safe as possible, if that means keeping them off school for a month and paying a fine so be it.

taking your kids out while they sussed the problem would be perfectly reasonable IMO,,im from the old school no pun intended and just feel local councils have far to much power, my kids are grown up now but if they were at scool id pull the plug when i thought it was right and not them, fine or no fine
