I work in construction and currently on a job within several hospitals in UK. If things get worse I will have to pull myself out of work I reckon. Unfortunately, the nature of my job is not a "work from home" option, so it's going to be interesting how my company combats it.

I ssume you build them rather than go round licking the patients, so this seems a little hysterical tbh.

Irrespective of the debate raging on here about the accuracy of mortality rate estimates, the fact that 10% of infections in Italy have required critical care is fairly scary.

I’ve said many times that the fixation on the mortality rate is misguided.

The severe case rate is a much more important metric for determining potential negative impacts and current needs for focusing response, especially as it will impact the mortality rate (and not just for those suffering from COVID-19).

I see the Italian sports minister has requested that Serie A be suspended, it can't be long. I wonder whether Seville v Atalanta will be played this week ? Especially as the only reason for travel from Milan is now in emergency only, a CL tie is hardly an emergency, and since its getting worse not better, that game if called off isn't going to be played for weeks, so that must put the whole competition in doubt.

You are forgetting one thing £££££ GREED

67 more in Uk today including an Oxford Uni student. I thought the number may be higher than that today but still on the up.

These are people testing positive after testing negative on discharge, they are not necessarily getting a new infection.
Not necessarily, no. I’ve not been unequivocal though, have I?

I said “we won’t necessarily have immunity”.

Once a game is off in an international cup competition and can't be replayed, what do you do ? The next round gets held up indefinitely, and there's three more rounds after this, they can keep going towards the final where games are being played, but it can't be played because one side of the draw will be Valencia, or Atalanta, or x, or y, or z V Team A.

UEFA greed isn't an emergency, and if ordinary people in northern Italy are quarantined then surely footballers have to be too ?

Our numbers are beginning to grow like Italy's was 3 or 4 weeks ago, so it will come here too, football behind closed doors to start, then eventually called off imho, if I was liverpool I'd be wanting those three wins very quickly.....

Just give teams byes, that’s what used to happen in the old European Cup days. Happened to two winners (Forest and Bayern).

Apparently there’s an exemption in Italy for those who can prove they need to travel for work reasons, which I expect Atalanta would take advantage of.

That said, the Italian Minister for sport is trying to have Serie A cancelled to protect players. If that happens then it’s bound to throw the CL into chaos.

I don’t think Liverpool have anything to worry about. Aston Villa maybe.

Who are you giving the bye too, which team ? A bye only works before a competition starts ? this is 3/4 way through, do you eliminate the team 4-1 up in the tie ?
Valencia.

If the other team can’t fulfil their fixture, whether their fault or out of their hands, they’re eliminated from the comp.

It’s harsh but allows the comp to carry on.

To be fair we have a very old population, the UK might have a lower percentage since you have a younger median age.
