COVID-19 — Coronavirus

I was in Trafford for the last few days. Seeing everyone in the queue for Sainsbury’s in Urmston wearing a mask gives a clue regarding the improvement / relatively low number of infections in the borough.
Glad to hear of Sainsbury's customers to have the sense to carry out the regulations. Pity I couldn't say the same about Tesco customers at Cheetham Hill. I think some there are totally oblivious as to what is happening right now.

the same as pubs being packed , and the parks and beaches. But hey let’s all blame the youth.

There’s Covidiots in every age group for sure, but I do think a larger percentage of younger people are more blasé about this. That’s an observation rather than a dig and my attitude towards it may have been blasé too if this virus materialised 30 years ago when I was 20.

Exactly, I would have been 100x more blasé when I was a weed smoking teen. It’s just the way it is. Generally observed I still feel they have been made a massive scapegoat

You will never ever stop the virus spreading, to try to is futile. Ask King Canute, he'll tell ya!

We should let the youngsters (under 60's) socialise and spread it, we apparently can deal with the relatively small number of extreme cases that are likely to occur in this age group.

If we focus care on Care Homes, the elderly and the vulnerable who need shielding but let the rest of the country go out and get it. Herd immunisation is the only way forward, else we will be doing this lockdown lark forever and a day!

The number of cases are up because the number of tests have increased. 100,000 tests 1000 new cases. 500,000 tests 5,000 new cases.... have new cases really increased? It's interesting to note that hospital admissions and intensive care cases have not followed the upward trend, kind of proves the point 0f the ratio of positive cases to the number of tests - this would be a much more meaningful metric!

Admissions , ventilators and deaths have gone up , all four nations CMO 's said this week we are at the start of the second wave , i am sick of hearing lock the old and the vulnerable away , most have been isolated since march , it is a fucking selfish view

The Mrs has had an antibodies test and it is negative. So I guess it stands to reason if she hasn't had it neither have I.

We have both been out regularly, we get public transport every day, we've been in restaurants, cafes etc, been on a couple of mini breaks this summer and also we both work in retail so come into contact with a lot of people on a daily basis.

But crucially we have followed the guidelines throughout. We wear masks, we social distance, we haven't been round anyone's house, washed our hands etc. OK so we're only 2 people out of 67 million in the country but I think it proves the guidelines do work, and there's a lot to be said for following them. Much as I fucking detest wearing a mask its worked so far(touch wood...).

I honestly believe the spike in cases is solely down to the dickheads not following the rules. And just like back in school when a couple of gobshites at the back were pissing about and the whole class got detention, we are now all being punished whether we follow the rules or not.

I just hope and pray, like so many others, that I've still got a job in 6 months time.

Genuine question then, what do YOU think should be done?

Enforce the rules ,everyone has to wear a mask and sanitiser , shut the pubs back to take away only , same with resturants, punish those not sticking to the rules and not older people , a lot of them on their own, they might as well curl up and die , back in social bubbles, remote learning for uni
