I didnt write it
No, but what if you had? Did you think of that? Did you think of the need some of these posters have to constant nibble at you? Maybe you should have thought of that, and written it for their sakes.

At the risk of another pile on , that figure is awful
The figures are grim and we can expect high death figures for weeks, I’m sad to say.

Hopefully, the increased case numbers are the results of reporting irregularities that Healdplace mentioned.

I am hoping that many people will be extra careful in the run up to the Christmas easement, when we might be in a better position before the Xmas break.

Just a reminder of the warning that cases might well be up today.

The pillar 2 testing issue I mentioned yesterday clearly impacted N Ireland and made their data low and was added on today. The number of pillar 2 tests for the UK was the lowest since early September so if these have now turmed up and are added today numbers may be up.

We will see. Hopefully not.
you were right Healdplace. :-(

Sadly yes.

And I agree that all settings death number is higher than I ever feared we would reach.

It is tragic just before Christmas.

Let us hope we really have turned a corner and deaths will fall too soon and yesterday was the only day they messed up the testing numbers.

But tbh it might have been reported low for some days now for all we know as the testing levels had been all over the place for a while and I was surprised no journalist was asking questions about it as it was easy to see in the published data.

I dont look at tests and there are so many varables and they are not all tests completed , the hosp, icu and deaths are the ones i go by

Similar here as well.
Mrs has had to see the doctor a few times since March.
Wait for ages to get through to the SS stormtrooper on reception who wants to know why and earth you called.
Then, if you have a lottery ticket, you are allowed a telephone conversation with a nurse or if you are very very lucky, a doctor.
Her thumbs and joints were badly swollen so they said take some photos of them and send them in to look at. Good job she’s good with the tech and has a smartphone.
Months later gets a referral for the next level up who says there’s now some irreplaceable damage.

We’ll have to get it sorted without the NHS.
It's a difficult conundrum and one that many people will be only too familiar with, but there still has to be a modicum of care for ailments, accidents or illness. A chap off this thread got a result with the 111 service so the wife's just gone over to ring them up for her, as she's non too good with interaction. Hopefully she can seen by a doctor or at least upload photos for their kind appraisal and put her mind at rest. Two burns the full length of the straightening tongues and skin broken on both, the burn to the top of her arm is festering and yellow so unsure to the extent of damage.

I do hope your wife's thumbs settle down over time as they are something we cant really do without. The son in law was in an unfortunate altercation and was hit with an iron bar that smashed his thumb. Anyway, they sent him home and the doctor never cleaned it out, so it became badly swollen. So much so, that damage was caused to his surrounding tissue and he had to have an operation to fuse his thumb into place. At least this would enable him to have some dexterity if it was fixed at an angle as he would be able to grip. But no, they fused it at 90 degrees, so now it's as much use as a chocolate fireguard. He works on the steel and it's difficult to rig and he said it would be better if they had just amputated it as it gets in the way. They stood on with liability as they they never followed protocol for open wounds, so litigation issues are just down to just quantum and future loss of earnings. But yes, a finger or two everyone can do without, but your thumb or thumbs are an an integral part of everyday living. I do hope your missus is well and her thumbs recover.

Regional scoreboard before KO.

More at half time.

London 2503 - up from 1409.

Midlands 2424 - up from 1244.

North East 876 - up from 598.

Yorkshire 1984 - up from 1335.

And North West 2097 - up from 1469.

London as you see top again and it was how far that fell yesterday that first suggested a problem if you recall.

I don’t see how mixing at Christmas is going to be such a big deal.
Mainly media histeria and lockdown fetishists that causing all the noise.
People will be sensible and make their own judgements about whether to mix.
Forming a bubble with other households is commonplace with single adult households. I think this should be extended anyway under current rules to permit two households to bubble and not require one of the two to be a single adult household.
The rules don’t permit mixing with all different households as the bubble has to be maintained.
at a time when people are unlikely to be going back into offices etc... over Christmas there shouldn’t be a massive spread that some think.
Those that won’t be sensible are the same people who have been carrying on that way throughout.
I don’t see why those who want to see other family members (parents etc...) should be denied because of those who ignore the rules.
Those in Leicester/GM have had 4 weeks’ since March where they have been permitted to mix with any other household. It’s ridiculous to suggest that they should not be allowed this minimal extended contact.
It really isn't. The only problem is not closing schools 9 days beforehand. Just fecking crazy

GM scoreboard:

Everywhere up but not a lot. But enough to increase total back over 1000 to 1049. Highest in a week.

And a 50% split of the NW total.

But the boroughs are starting to bunch together in a way they always used to do with no huge gulf in numbers. Less than 100 between the scores of all ten for first time in a very long while.

Manchester 161 – up from 143. Total cases 30, 301. Weekly 1262. Pop score up 29 to 5481. Weekly Pop down 18 to 228.

Bolton 134 – up from 90 . Total cases 14, 676. Weekly 833. Pop score up 47 to 5104. Weekly Pop down 8 to 290.

Oldham 133 - up from 72. Total cases 14, 435.. Weekly 837, Pop score up 56 to 6088 , Weekly Pop down 12 to 353.

Wigan 122 – up from 112. Total cases 16, 036. Weekly 895.. Pop score up 37 to 4879. Weekly Pop down 26 to 269.

Rochdale 108 – up from 62. Total cases 12, 200. Weekly 749. Pop score up 48 to 5485. Weekly Pop down 38 to 336.

Stockport 101 – up from 49. Total cases 10, 257. Weekly 600. Pop score up 35 to 3496 Biggest rise in a few days here. Weekly Pop UP 2 to 205. Stockport rises as it had more cases than it did this day last week.

Bury 86 – up from 50, Total cases 9437. Weekly 534. Pop score up 45 to 4941. Weekly Pop down 24 to 279.

Salford 73 – up from 71. Salford doing better than Stockport is the biggest change in past week or so. Total cases 13, 078. Weekly 556. As you see – fewer cases than most of GM in the week including Stockport Pop score up 28 to 5053. Weekly Pop down 27 to 215 and almost caught Stockport for second spot in lowest weekly Pop. Huge turn of fortune for Salford and underperforming by Stockport.

Tameside 67 – up from 39 Total cases 10, 175. Weekly 493. Sub 500 for first time in months. Pop score up 29 to 4492. Weekly Pop down 5 239.

Trafford 64 – up from 33. Trafford now been under 100 for almost 2 weeks. Total cases 8521. Weekly 354. Lowest in GM. And lowest weekly numbers since early September. Pop score up 27 to 3590. The gap to Stockport for best in GM over the pandemic at 94 cut again and has more than halved in past week or so showing how well Trafford is doing. Weekly Pop up 14 due to higher numbers to 169. Lead over Stockport for weekly best in GM here falls to 36. And Salford joined the race here too after being in the UK top 5 worst a month ago.
