Covid and travel discussion

Off to Istanbul for 5 days on the 29th and praying we get away with no disruption.

Yeah makes sense, I'd seen your earlier post about being Disney Freaks and was worried there may have been something Disney related putting you off. We're not sure whether to go at Christmas or earlier, still trying to persuade the missus to do 3 weeks in total.

I hadn't noticed the Tui flights were in to Melbourne i'll give them a miss. Aer Lingus have some really good price at the minute.
When we had to reschedule a second time, my daughter convinced us all that it would be great to go at Christmas. But the longer we thought about it, the more we thought it would be a bad idea.

We’ve been at WDW over Easter and it got incredibly busy over the Easter weekend. I can only imagine what it would be like over Christmas. Others may have different opinions, but if you plan to visit the theme parks, I’d say NOT going at Christmas is the wisest choice.

I drove once in Florida and didn’t like the experience so we just use taxis and local transport. I think the taxi ride from Melbourne would be a bit too long.

We've only been once before. We arrived on New years eve, got to the hotel at 8pm dumped the bags and were at the park for 9pm and inside the Castle for a meal at 10pm, it was bedlam when we finally left the park at 1.30am - took us 3 hours to get back to Kissimmee! The next few days were really busy, we were told it was busier the week before, but because we've only seen it that busy i'm not sure it would bother us too much if that makes sense? I'm tempted to do the 14 days universal pass over Christmas and then end with Disney over New year eve into 4th / 5th Jan. Just need to see how much the flights are when they are released.

We’re there mid March and will now get a couple of days at the second test, we booked ages ago, 11 nights hotel right on Dover beach, Virgin Flight for £2300 all in, couldn’t book a flight for under 2k per person at moment never mind accommodation so for once we’ve struck lucky but the city fan in me is expecting Virgin to cancel for some reason and price gouge the shit out of a rebooking.

Hope the curfew is eased when you get there mate.
We got Virgin for 600 each flying 21st Jan from Man. We are staying 7 nights in Holetown and then 9 nights in St Lawrence. Accommodation is around £100 per night so short of 3k for flights/Accommodation. Not sure how many of the 20's we will do but there for all 5. Look out for the flag!

And you must be double vaccinated to do the one night quarantine

we are screwed after booking, finding out that our 14 year old has to quaratine for 10 nights .
Regulations constantly changing, you can enter through the sandbox scheme. You stay at one of the SHA+ hotels for the first 7 days, not quarantine as such as you are free to travel Phuket.

out of interest what's made you put it back so far, we are considering Orlando at some point in 2022 as we've got 6 free nights at Disney parks / a Disney hotel to use, I can use it anytime though.
slowly falling out of love with Disney, will probably go one last time in 2023, but the changes to fast pass, Genie plus and the paying for big rides is just pure greed. Chapek has a lot to answer for.

really wished you were right
sandbox is for fully vaccinated travellers outside of the 63 countries allowed to enter under the 1 night test and go system

sandbox programme, you still need to be double jabbed, which our 14 year is unable to do
