COVID Watch

I'm sure footballers are kept more in check than most of the population , as for footballers have a low I.Q. really

So many? Everyone was saying there was 3 new cases among players
According to the trolls and Chuckle Brother if we have 14 fit players available from our billion £ squad the game should have gone ahead , and as we havent the points should be forfeited.
Some proper bitter and stupid people in this world.

If this is true it’s probably the end of our title challenge. There are bound to be more positives if that many have been infected. No way will we be able to deal with the fixture congestion coming our way.
To be honest I couldn’t care less about the league right now.
I just hope all our players recover without any long term issues.
Thinking about title challenge only, it's probably better if there are more cases. If we had just 5 out, we would probably have to play Chelsea with no right back and without 1st choice keeper. If there is more, it will get pulled and we can play them with a full squad later in the season

Schedule flights quoted just because flights are cancelled does it mean the airport is closed, just no flights operating City would be a private flight it could take off and land Most large airports are manned 24/7 even if it’s just for emergency diversions Final word from me
Yes those are the "scheduled" ones, but you can see pretty much any plane that's flying these days (our charters always show up), and I looked last Tuesday evening/Wednesday morning to see if our plane departed, it didn't, and I was working late.

London airports have different rules than Manchester, I know having worked at them, and you'll find virtually no private flights after 10pm that originate at London airports. Arrivals are allowed, but even these are kept to a minimum.

Its spreading like wildfire - loads of EFL games postponed tonight for the same reason and there will be a lot more postponements in the coming weeks. I watched MOD on Saturday night after we’d beat Newcastle and I was shocked to hear no reference at all to how COVID has affected Newcastle in the last few weeks - instead Shearer talked about how Newcastle fans wouldn’t put up with their teams lack of ambition. And all this whilst his teams captain is suffering the effects of long COVID. It’s like folk are closing their eyes to the dangers of a killer virus and carrying on as if everything’s normal. Now our we’ve got infected players who could become seriously ill and / or infect other people and there’s clowns out there calling us cheats and moaning because we’ve been allowed to postpone a game and have not been asked to surrender any points. People need to get their priorities right. Stay safe folks.

Not sure where we have gained an advantage as some of the media are implying , we will likely have four games to squeeze into our fixture list , until May we are playing midweek and weekends every single week , unless we get knocked out of the cups early.
It will mean playing games every 48 hours in some cases to fulfill the fixtures , so if that's to our benefit i must be missing something

It won't sink in until a player is in a coma on a ventilator or even dies.

And can you imagine the shitstorm if an Everton player or Ancelotti had come down with it next week.

The media take will be with the SIZE of our squad we can comfortably play 3 times a week.

i cant remember the source , but apparently a Newcastle player caught this virus 3 weeks ago and is still struggling to walk , and as an example a fit 30 year old semi-pro boxer in my local village died of COVID in September , with no underlying issues.
If a footballer dies it is solely the blame of the money men of the TV companies and the Premier league and Football league.

City , as far as I know , don't fly to London games....logistically it makes no sense , unless its London City Airport. Occasionally they use the train for Wembley trips, but mainly , the team coach . I was on the M56 last week coming towards Manchester and passed the team coach heading towards Southampton, the day before the game.
City have used the same hotel in London for a few years now, for games at Arsenal, Spurs and West Ham , because of its location .

These are the facts . What we don't know is how footballers are really behaving when on the road or even at home etc. The link with Gabriel of Arsenal with other City players in this hotel, particularly our own Gabriel and fellow players before the Arsenal game is unlikely to be revealed.
I think this is a massive wake up call for football at the highest level. Its City today , but it will continue with other clubs.

Football is only being played in this country and others , because the broadcasters are the puppet masters and own football , and contracts cant be broken. There's 2000 delusional Scousers on alternate weeks who think they can create an atmosphere , every week , being told they've escaped the second wave.

Meanwhile in the real world , (and the previous chap who posted a great deal of sense ) football continues to live in Covid denial whilst 500 people die each day and every hospital is genuinely struggling . I think its time football takes a long look at itself as we go up to Tier 5/National lockdown. Watch this space ......

Despite the reality of all this, best wishes to every City fan and their loved ones in these difficult times

seems a bit of a loose source.

hopefully get clarity from the tests tomorrow and wish the players well. Im sure many nervous for their families
I would agree with that. Also negative in the last test means nothing if bubble was compromised. They could very well test positive in next two days.

Will the rest of the squad not be self isolating seeing as they’ve been in such close contact with those who have tested positive?

I went to City v Watford 2 seasons ago and arrived lunch time at Watford Junction (evening kick off). The team bus was at the station waiting for the train with the team on it.

Common sense would suggest given the number of players and staff who have now tested positive ( surely more to come ) those players who were in close contact with those who tested positive would have to self isolate.

Here in oz its 14 days for close contacts and their close contacts.

While we have many advantages given our geographical location and our population spread we appear to be taking it more seriously than others despite some overreach in response and mistakes made which is why our death rates and numbers are much lower than most.

It gets back to the individual and the sacrifices they are prepared to make.

Sheer madness given how close players to each others pockets during the week if City are forced to play any games in the next two weeks at minimum.

Be amazed if more players and staff don't become positive in the coming days.

No use them hiding cases as playing players who are positive will only spread the virus amongst clubs at a much higher rate that otherwise.

They do often use the train for London games, and they often use a hotel on the edge of Watford (The Grove), but there certainly wouldn't be a train back after the game against Arsenal last week.

Good opening post and anybody with common sense would know that with this virus the way the games were being played despite the best of protocols players and staff were going to obtain the virus.

The season should be placed on hold for a number of weeks now and the government step in with its healgh advice and tell the leagues its off for the time being.

The spread and health risk if anything is worse than it was when the league was suspended in the first wave.

Chelsea game going to be interesting...

the faux outrage in the media is sadly all too predictable. There’s been precedent set ffs. Where were all the tears when Newcastle had an outbreak?
