just watched a few i recorded recently, it annoys the shit out of me the fact people do that to others.
leaving people with 1 habitable room in a house and sewage everywhere, and shoddy as fuck building work really gets to me.
it got me thinking if anyone has had a bad experience with a builder? and does it annoy people as much as me?
im in a decent position as im in the building game and know all my tradesmen.

or is anyone going to own up to a cock up they caused?lol

Yeah our family was ripped off by some shoddy builder, funny thing was he did a brilliant job on my nans house the month before and therefore she recommended him to us

As much as cowboy builders annoy me, I find cowboy customers worse.
The amount of times I have done work for people who think they can wait months to wait before paying you.....even for one days work with a quotation / estimate clearly stating paid on conpletion of work or a set date. Another bug bear with these shows is the way they show customers the way to get work done without paying for it ,the law is an ass, it should be made a criminal offence not paying for work done not just a civil court order .

Bloke i worked with once got a pj to rewire a house, so everyday after work and weekends for 2 weeks he rewired this house. Gave him the bill and the guy gave him half in cash and said thats all im paying. That half paid back the materials basically. Anyway argued it out with the bloke and then walked to the cupboard and proceeded to rip the distribution board off the wall. Walked outside removed his mains fuse and drove off. The guy agreed to pay him the rest after that

I had similar with a bathroom fit , just took it all out . He had ripped out the old bathroom to save money so he looked a fool when he got the cops . As he admitted taking out the old bathroom to them ,there was nt a criminal damage claim. The two bobbies even gave me a hand taking my goods to my van ,as they could see what this goon was trying it on.

Similar situation. I had a mate who had some gutter work done, good job, so I got the guy's number. He replaced all my guttering, felt etc. Cash of course. No problem, until winds dislodged the felt and it blew away...ffs. Had to get a proper roofer in to sort it.

Claimed through the county court, but they couldn't find the guy, so I hired a PI to find him, and am still awaiting bailiffs' letter saying that they've made contact...

I have a building company and it pisses me off when people generilse about builders. I go the extra mile for my customers and have had many referrals over the years, but now and again I get a knobhead to decides to hold back the final payment.

Happened recently - I did a job that took 12 weeks (quoted him 14 weeks) and 6 months later he owes me a small amount of money equivelant to about 700 pounds. Now he has had a roof leak - nothing to do with me - and wants me to repair it.

I am fed up of justifying my wage to my customers. If I tell you its going to be 200 on completion, it doesnt matter if i finish at 2pm or 6pm, a price is a price....and as ive said before, with nice weather, it doesnt take me a full day to do a full days work. Some prick tried it Sat, i was done building him a wall for 3pm and he asked if he still had to pay the full price as i wasnt there a full day!!! haha cheeky fucker!!

Got palmed off by the agent on site that the QS knew nothing about it. He was supposed to ring me all week,made inquiries and still no sign of a phone call ,never mind a payment. Is that not retention ? to cover the client for defects etc.

Standard Building contract term (JCT etc) - 2½% retention - to be paid 6 months (12 months for M&E) from Practical Completion and on agreement that all the snagging is complete.

Funny you say that as I`m gonna be disconnecting the silo providing the mortar. Lets see what the main contractor says when I stop the job. Got work next week for the materials so I`ll not be out of pocket anymore .
