Melbourne Storm have been stripped of two championships in Australia's National Rugby League for breaching the competition's strict salary cap rules.

Melbourne Storm coach Craig Bellamy said the judgement was an "absolute shock" to all the players and back-room staff.

"Personally I am heartbroken. But this football club has great character and values," he said.

"We will not walk away from this challenge. We will stick tight together as a group and fight our way back from this."

Good. I can't stand the Storm full-back, Billy Slater. he's a cocky, little grub.

C'mon you Sharkies

Yeah you got to beat last year's premiers the other week, sharkies 1st win since last year ;)

I'll second that about Billy Slater, he's a bell end! He's a good player but I'm always willing the opposition to deck him.

I like the Sharkies as I was in Cronulla for a while (units next to Northies). They play in Blue so deserve our support

Hope you're not a Silver Tail ;)

Simon - me too, mate.

This is massive news down here. Think about the Serie A match-fixing scandal, very similar. But everything Melbourne has done for the last five years has been stricken from the record books.

But yes, when I hear "Craig Bellamy" on the news, my first thought is the footballer, not the football coach. ;)

I was always a bit suss of how they could have three of the best players in the world,Slater,Inglis and Smith, plus a very good squad and stay under the cap.A mate connected to the Roosters texted me yesterday and said to put money on them getting the spoon ,I thought he was pissed.
The fall out from this hasn't even started yet,but the reality is the cap is too low and to keep a decent side together, you need a creative accountant.

Slap on the rist and punishment applied to a future season with points docked over here.

Frank Bough stood next to the tele text waiting for the fulltime scores. Do you still have Grandstand over their?
