Crazy Explosion at Beirut Port (video)

There is no need for a bomb, the bomb is already there.

With the chemical involved you would just need an ignition source and by the sounds of it the ammonium nitrate was probably mixed with oil which is the ignition source (normal but strictly controlled and probably why it was in that warehouse).

All it takes then is a fire that spreads to the storage area, the oil would ignite and then the ammonium nitrate is your catalyst.

As much as it could of been a car bomb resulting in a fire, it could also of been stupid kids starting a fire, who knows.
I get that but everyone was filming a run of the mill fire (It seemed) I just so happened to be next to a shit load of chemicals, you’ll probably find out it was some workmen and a spark set the initial fire going and then boom

It's just politics and posturing. Unknown to us, by saying that, it will no doubt serve to further an agenda that will improve that party's position for a variety of things.
You're suggesting that Trump is capable of strategic thought.
History suggests it's much more likely to be a case of it being a narcissistic need for him to be seen to know more than everyone else. When he's proved wrong he'll just blame the fictitious generals that told him in the first place.

You can see the fireworks in the first fire, so I'd imagine it's fairly obvious they are the cause . Cheap firework factories going up in flames aren't uncommon, you just don't usually have a warehouse full of ammonium nitrate nearby

From what I've read the warehouse and the area was used for storage which makes sense as it is next to a port.

Obviously fireworks may of been stored too, if they go up due to a fire which spreads to tons of stored ammonium nitrate then indeed you're having a bad day.

Fauld might have been as bad. The blast didn't reach all the bombs stored underground. And even as it was, it was said it broke windows in Birmingham.

I remember visiting 30 years ago before it turned to woodland when you could still see from the side how deep the crater is.
Didn't something similar happen in WWI, although this was a planned manoeuvre by the allied forces, putting tons and tons of bombs underneath German lines?

Gives you some idea of scale if yesterday. The Buncefield oil depot explosion 15 yrs ago had an estimated equivalent explosive force of 29tons. The Tianjin explosion in China a few years ago was estimated at 336tons of TNT, yesterday's Beruit explosion was estimated at 1.1KT or 1136tons of TNT, Fauld was estimated at 2KT of TNT and the Halifax, Nova Scotia explosion in WW1 was 2.9KT. The last one effectively destroyed the whole town and caused a tsunami 60ft high. The other scary thing you notice when you check these things out is how many of these big explosions have occurred and still occur.

No way should that fertiliser have been stored in such close promity to the port, city and residential areas.
