Crazy Explosion at Beirut Port (video)

Gives you some idea of scale if yesterday. The Buncefield oil depot explosion 15 yrs ago had an estimated equivalent explosive force of 29tons. The Tianjin explosion in China a few years ago was estimated at 336tons of TNT, yesterday's Beruit explosion was estimated at 1.1KT or 1136tons of TNT, Fauld was estimated at 2KT of TNT and the Halifax, Nova Scotia explosion in WW1 was 2.9KT. The last one effectively destroyed the whole town and caused a tsunami 60ft high. The other scary thing you notice when you check these things out is how many of these big explosions have occurred and still occur.

No way should that fertiliser have been stored in such close promity to the port, city and residential areas.
Krakatoa, 200 Million tons of TNT.

Nope purely speculation on my part. Have you a problem with that?
No problem with speculation except your speculation was based on totally unfounded rumours although your comment about “Talk of Hezbollah in the vicinity” is hardly earth shattering considering that they form part of the government and operate all over Lebanon.

It was based on the knowledge of the political situation there. An early tweet from there claimed someone had seen a missile.

I would however not be to quick to rule out a deliberate act, especially if there was effectively a huge bomb being stored in such a sensitive area. I would be very surprised if they had kept its presence secret from all that would be interested.

Buncefield woke me up at about 30 miles distance. and was heard in Holland ( 300 or so miles away )

Also for scale. The smaller nuke ( Little Boy ) dropped on Hiroshima was 13000-18000 tons equivalent.

Nagasaki was 18000 to 23000 Tons

Yes. That changed world climate for a few years. Like many volcanic eruptions. Kratatoa was a VEI 6 eruption, similar to Pinotubo. The scary thing is they come much bigger. Yellowstone and Toba are VEI 8 and extinction level events. The scale being logarithmic the last two are 100times bigger than Krakatoa.

So annoying Yellowstone didn’t go off before Liverpool won the league.
