Root = Great batsman but shit captain.

Minimum 64 overs left in the day with deduction between innings and India 259 runs ahead.

So 4 runs per over at least for England, an impossibility.

I fear that that's just about right, sadly. Furthermore, he would be an even greater batsman, in my opinion, without the distractions of captaincy.
Some can do both, and relish it. Cook could. But not, I fear, Joe.

Test averages:-
  • Bumrah = 3.6
  • Shami = 11.2
So they are collectively 67.2 runs over their test averages, hang your head in shame Joe Root.
look the captaincy aint be great the but the pitch is batting friendly, albeit we have let two weak tail enders get away with it

if the pitch was any better, Kohli would have declared at lunch and set england a rate of 4.5 an over, but he's scared of the T20 players and the pitch. Just the way it is. Been a great test, whatever happens.

Send in Buttler or Ali up the order to try and give it a bash - better to lose going for the win than stink the place out like they did against New Zealand.
