Sussex also losing Chris Jordan which is a blow for them. Salt seems more a one day, t20 dasher than a first class cricket signing though I'm sre he will play in the CC, but, he only averages 30 with the bat in first class cricket which isn't great for an opening bat.
True. He’s young though and may improve, but our coaching doesn’t seem the best, looking at what we have at the moment.

I wonder how long the budget at Lancs will mostly go into ground improvements rather than players.

Next season I think Salt will bat at 5 in the County Championship.
Jennings and Wells to open I would guess with Bohannon (3) and Vilas (4).

The young lad George Balderson has a good pedigree at youth level, wonder if he will cement an all rounder place and bat 6 or 7 next season, are Lancs keeping Vilas? And will they make use of the 2 overseas players ruling? Could be a few changes.

Vilas qualifies as English next season, or so I am led to believe. He's quality.
Balderson should be given a chance in the middle order, although he's opened the last 2 games.
Good bowler too.
However I'm not a fan of Chappell. Would love to see a change there.

If Vilas qualifies as English next season then that is good news. Hopefully Lancs bring in a couple of quality overseas players as well, think a top class batsman to bat 3 or 4 would be top of my list.

The standard of cricket has been reducing all across the world. The best players in the world are all focusing their efforts on International or Franchise cricket. Hardly any play domestic cricket and put the hard grind in perfecting their game.

Batsman & Spinners have struggled the most as they have to adapt their games differently for each format, where as pace bowlers generally don't have to do too much readjustment from a technical perspective.

We need to promote cricket alot more - I'm lucky my son is obsessed with the game and plays a good standard, but it's also a game that is quickly pricing people out - the costs for membership, Kit (bats prices are astronomical) and coaching etc.

We lose kids as they are sometimes only in a team to make up numbers. Clubs also do not have proper coaching structures, I know a few clubs who have parents running the junior coaching, these parents have never played the game.

The shorter the game goes, the less opportunities we will see for players who can build innings - they literally need to go in and tee off.

The other thing is - The ECB is now full of Business Men and non cricket people making decisions.

No real shocks. Sad to see Stokes not in it.
