As indeed will anyone coming through from the County circuit. It’s why more needs to be done to dampen expectations and accept that any ‘reset’ will take time. I think there are good young players coming through but that for too long the collective wisdom has been that breaking into the Test squad and securing a central contract is the be all and end all. If players don’t make an immediate and then sustained impact, they are jettisoned in favor of the next bright thing.

I saw yesterday that someone suggested Billings - got 5 years in him probably, captains a county (when he's there) and hasn't been given a chance yet in tests.
