I think this pitch is too batsman friendly. It's offered basically nothing, and it's been said that this year's cricket balls are going soft quickly.

Funny thing about this test is Root got 179 runs, which means he didn't make up for dropping Mitchell on 3 (went on to score 187 more runs).

Just a question. I seem to remember that there've been matches in the past where the batsman had a runner for him. What are the conditions that warrant that?

I think they got banned a few years back because the rule was being abused.

There was some swing too and a bit of seam.

If a result is created in the last session of the last day, it has to be called a perfect test pitch, doesn’t it?

I’d prefer them to just hit the 8 sixes or whatever we need now with no further wickets though.

You say that, but there's been 34 wickets, it's not been uncompetitive.

It's been a wicket that's allowed a 5 day game to go the distance.
