Hmm, maybe. It’s been an amazing knock from him today, but not sure he’s ready for test cricket.

Compton deserves a chance more so far this season.
More in jest. I think they should stick with Crawley. I'm not au fait with Kent's Championship fixtures, but I know Surrey have a game before the Indian Test and then three more before the South African series begins. Assuming that Kent have something similar, then I hope he can go back to Canterbury and find some form during those.

Can Crawley change though? He reminds me of Michael Vaughan in his stroke play, but he’s so loose outside the off stump. He’s a compulsive driver. That doesn’t work that well as a test opener.

It's his main scoring shot, too, so he's in a pickle, but so too is Rob Key. :-)

I'd stick with him and tell him just to take the shine off the new ball in the next Test. Someone in that side has to learn to drop anchor, so it's there for the taking if he can resist the temptation.

Playing the current bottom 4 next, looking forward to the game at Southport although out grounds can be a lottery.

Talking out grounds, two T20s at Stanley Park too, normally low scoring for one dayers.

Southport for the cricket was one of the best days out all year when I still lived in England. Went there for a county game once on the day of Charles & Diana's wedding, there were long queues down the road to get in, mostly blokes who'd left their wives home watching the ceremony on tv.
