Yep spot on
it's a risky way to set up I agree, but the way we were losing test matches, I think the gamble was worth taking
the old England would be banking on a one-man team in Joe root scoring the runs and then blocking the other end

as for the ashes, next summer England will be looking for a bowler like archer or wood to come for jimmy
but we must not take a step back in the approach we are using because they will smell the fear in the batting line up
We’re not far apart here! The “feud” may die soon…

Stokes has done for the team what Vaughan did after Hussain. No fear mindset and positivity after a turgid time. (Along with McCullum too)

The Ashes next year could be another 2005, we could hammer them or lose 5-0. That’s how random our results might be if we play win at all costs cricket.

We still need at least one opener. Maybe 2. If we’re going all out attack, then I can see Buttler returning as an opener.

Potts looks an inspired pick.

We shall see! It’s nice to be more positive about English cricket for a change.

It's easy when winning, nobody can see the cracks

yes we will lose playing smash and grab cricket, but I truly think you win more than you lose playing that way
also it's better going down with a fight than a whimper in my book

I was at that game! VS West Indies on the first day in 95. It was a baking hot day and I seem to remember the sun was bouncing off some windows at The Brian Statham end right in the batsmen eyes end so dickie bird took they off for about 20 mins
I was there that game weather was fantastic, pissed as farts for two days oh the folly of youth :-)

It is also dependent on our ability to take 20 wickets.

It was also the game Cork stood on his wicket (I think) and casually just put the bails back on like nowt had happened played on and managed a half century he was always a hard faced fucker that one.
I remember it a lot clearer as the game Linsey Dawn Mckenzie got her tits out 3 rows in front of us and sprinted on pitch.

NZ ranked 4th, were 3rd before the series, were number 1 in late half of 2021. I think 2021 was the only time they have been ranked top, and declined badly this year.
NZ have had some issues with injury/absence this series (what happened to Lockie Ferguson ?, he was great in ODIs) but I was at that 5th day at Trent Bridge and for two hours their bowling (Boult and Henry particularly) was formidable and they looked odds-on to win till that Bairstow barrage. Williamson had a poor series by his standards.

In years past NZ would have won all 3 tests having set between 275-299 to win on the last day; it's been a real change of mindset to blast the runs and put the opposition under pressure, rather than crawl there.

Let's give some credit to England, we have just beaten the number 1 ranked test team 3.0
OK it's at home, and we have some very good bowlers that suit our conditions, but I feel the batting side of the team has won us this series, in the style of positive batting with attitude

in the past 4 or 5 years England batting was poor, it was only Joe root they needed to get out, then the rest would follow pretty quick, but this summer we have seen some backbone from England
Agreed mate.

Also, think it's worth mentioning that the bowling attack took 20 wickets in every match when we have Archer, Wood, Robinson, Woakes, Stone, Mahmood and Fisher injured throughout the series. Potts got the nod after all of these bowlers and he came in and did brilliantly.

Yep the bowling attack did a good job but if you look at the batsman that scored the runs that we needed to win the tests i think it was the batting this time matey
