If it was under 300 runs starting off, I'd be more confident. 378 is a big (you could even say, er, "massive") target in the fourth innings. Only been achieved 7 times in the history of test cricket......

And England's highest was 3 years ago at Headingley (359, the Leach/Stokes game against the Aussies).
Yep - these 2 have given us a good platform but even now we still need another 288 runs to win

Only 289 to win think the mentality of treating test match cricket like a one day game is a game changer! If you say look in a 20/20 game nearly scored 500 runs so treat test match cricket the same there is a target go for it go for the win and like our last three test matches it worked it won’t work all the time but this is the way we are going…

20/20s aren’t played on 4 day old pitches though.

I don't think you can ignore the fact they chased down 296/3 a week ago, and have chased down 280+ three times in a row.

Yep but it’s a mentality change yep be sensible like Bairstow in first innings but you can still go at 4/5 and over go for the win even if it’s 400!
Sure and I’m totally for the PMA they’re approaching. It does need to be tempered somewhat. Bairstow has found that happy balance, Stokes definitely hasn’t!
