Absolutely nothing but the burden of proof is on those pointing the finger, is it not?
Who is pointing the finger at Root? Root says he didnt hear anything and Rafiq responded by suggesting he found that hard to believe (Or words to that effect)

As far as I’m aware, no one is accusing Root of racism.

Several people in these pages have criticised him and are laying some blame, seemingly a ton of people online elsewhere. Root is now in the headlines negatively, despite the fact there’s zero evidence of guilt and he’s not a racist.

It’s turning ugly on high profile names that aren’t actually accused of the crime itself.

Culture wars?

I couldn’t give a fuck about politics, I’m defending Joe Root who isn’t guilty and there’s no evidence he did hear anything.
Like I said Root is not in the dock here. He's made a statement and Rafeeq has ridiculed it that's all. The stuff about guilty verdicts, evidence and raging mobs is a figment of your imagination.

You might want to take a look in the headlines and comments being made elsewhere and the people on this website insinuating he’s a liar without having a clue.

That’s the way of the world and has been in the tabloids for decades.

Root could and should have worded his response better.

He left himself open to this backlash. He should be finding a new social media team.
I don’t think he could have said anything different other than saying nothing.

The backlash is coming against everyone in that Yorkshire team regardless, as people want blood, without taking a second to sit back and think it through.

I was talking about the entire tournament mate. To have Liam Livingstone batting 6 or 7 in a T20 tournament, makes absolutely no sense to me. Faced under 30 balls in the whole tournament, like I said before, I can't fathom it.
Ah yes fair point.
Instead of Buttler or Roy ?
I think three would have been ideal on the proviso no early wicket in the power play.
Either way your stat on the number of balls faced is shocking for such a destructive T20 cricketer.

England have been really unlucky with injuries, losing Roy and Mills was a blow, but not as big as Stokes or Archer unavailable to be in the squad. I still think England are the best white ball outfit with a full squad. The one thing I couldn't fathom was Livingstone down to bat at 6 or 7 every game, he can be absolutely destructive if given a chance to build an innings, he should have batted 3 or at worst 4. Good luck NZ in the final.

The number of balls faced isn't terribly representative though. He'd have made no difference at all in the first 4 - two won by 8 wickets and one was the Buttler show, SA was a dead game when he may have made a difference, but he got out with about 2 overs to go. In the WI game, he got out second ball needing 20 to win.

In the two close games, he got out hitting, and that could have happened just as easily in any game.

The England team has too many options, and as ever it's not easy to break in. I think only Mills really made much difference in the end, due to the very short form of the game.

I'm also amused by Morgan apparently being the best captain, but when NZ were bowling, everything was pre-planned and done automatically. Both by the same set of commentators. I think T20 is almost programmed now - choice made on left/right handed batsmen, and where the boundaries are.

I do think Morgan is a very very good captain (a real shame we can't harness it for the Test arena) but Williamson is outstanding.

The kiwi's approach to sport in general is s breath of fresh air but specifically in cricket Williamson has carried on the brilliant work from the likes of McCullam(sp?).

I think one of the broadcaster's noted the few words exchanged by the kiwi's between the overs as everybody already knows the plan and their individual input (unless Williamson wants to implement a specific change)..........

Yes, Morgan does seem to be that. I was just amused by the contrasting terms. Williamson just seems to be a good bloke, but that's common to most NZ sportsmen when interviewed.

I don't recall the last part, but I agree entirely - the endless discussions every ball really shouldn't be needed. If a bowler wants a fielder moved, just move him, don't have a conference about it. The time limits should be applied more rigorously than they are.

It was on a previous game - the co-commentator mentioned about speaking to Dale Steyn or similar who made the observation to them.

His observation was that this is how well prepared they are..............
