sorry boy's ive jinxed it
just how do they change ball so much these days has there been a rule change

A running issue this summer has been both sides complaining that the ball is out of shape - they certainly seem to go soft and dead after around 35 overs.

Hussein yesterday openly said it was done with a hope of getting a better ball (and by extension to my mind, not really about the shape).

The head ball maker at Duke left his position, and the new bloke has made a batch of dud balls. The stitching isn't tight enough so water/sweat is getting under the leather and making the ball go soft and out of shape way too soon.

The replacement balls are old ones from last year so they're harder.

It takes 7 months to make a new ball so we're stuck with these ones for the summer.

I hadn't heard that, but it seemed clear that it was a bad batch.

I hadn't realised it took that long, and it explains the price of them!
