Yes but if you said start at 1030, overs in a day 100, which in itself would be challenging as they struggle to get through 90 overs as it is. 4 days from Thursday-Monday OR Friday-Tuesday.
I checked the history of the last 15 tests at Old Trafford and very few went to 5 days. I think it will eventually happen.
I don’t. All it does is guarantee more draws.

The County Championship is back today.
No game for Lancs so attention on the Northants v Surrey game. Let’s hope for four days of rain in the East Midlands.
Big game in Div 2 is Middlesex v Glamorgan.

Amazing turnaround in the fortunes of the test team. From one win in the previous 17 tests, to six wins out of seven this summer. And they were against middling decent opposition. Is it over-simplifying to put all the credit on the leadership of the Stokes/McCullum duo? Anyway, credit to all concerned. Their approach to the game is a breath of fresh air.

Next summer will be the real, er, test though!

Does anyone on the forum remember the timeless tests from the early 19 hundreds?

There is a little bit of Michael Vaughan about him. I never said he can’t bat, merely that he can’t seem to learn how not to waft at the ball, driving on the up.
His issue is when the ball is just short of a length outside the off stump, he goes searching for it and not quite getting there. I detected in this innings a change, playing those balls later sometimes on the back foot. Several square drives where before he was aiming at cover. Not completely solved yet but he will get there.

The last timeless test was SA vs England in 1939. After 9 days play spread over 12 days, the match was abandoned because England had to catch the boat home.
All tests in Australia prior to WW2 were timeless.

I wonder if he will be better on spicier wickets as it makes him concentrate more.

Just wondering what people think of the Hundred?
It certianly divides opinion that's for sure

Looks like Lancashire CCC are cricket's equivalent of MCFC?

Fined 6 points when the County Championship was out of reach and almost certain not to be relegated.

Chilton is protesting, but it has no sporting impact.

Derbyshire got fined 2 points for a bat in a game they lost ending their one day cup quest last month, which is the same as 16 points in the County Championship.

Not keen on it, to put it mildly. Horrid nonsense. I can just about tolerate the T20 stuff, but that's where I draw the line.
Pointless and now the novelty has worn off crowds were very much down on last year.Im hoping they get rid of it.Then again im hoping for county cricket to be played in Jun,Jul and August Mon to Thurs and the T20 and 1 day stuff on Fri ,Sat and Sunday.I reckon i could do a better job than the ECB as im sure could waspish and Alan Harpers Tash.

100% Root would be back as captain quicker than you could say Bazball.

I'd say it was brought in to get more bums on seats, and consequently more cash. A lot of the run of the mill CC games are watched by 3 men, a dog and a pigeon on the roof. That can only have been losing money. Was the shortfall being made up by ODI and test match crowds?
