Did we have any sort training camps before the tournament, We had a couple of warm up games but weather effected then straight into it, I think we was under no pressure what so ever to win it because of the last touraments wins, But we have been so poor that Questions have to be asked about how bad we have played.
I reckon they considered the long tournament and thought they would forego the usual plethora of warm-up games and try to reach form as the tournament progressed, with the easier (according to the rankings) games early up against Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka, and accepting some games will be harder (NZ and SA). Of course it has dramatically backfired but not sure it's just the lack of matches, we just look stale.

Good job we've got the West Indies matches in December which will hopefully be more our level.

England’s starting XI in this game - average age is 33. Let that sink in. Livingstone - relatively inexperienced at the top level - is the youngest, at 30. He might play in the next WC - doubt any of the others will. England’s 50-over prospects looking as bleak as the format’s.

The decline since 2019 is grim.
I don't have the stats to hand but I was under the impression that the decline in the 50 over game was much more recent than that, perhaps the last couple of years it doesn't help when the powers that be have utter contempt for the 50 over game at county level.

I read before this World Cup how important it is to win the toss. Well we’ve won the last 3 tosses and been hammered in all 3, including by the mighty Afghanistan and Sri Lanka. I suppose we are fortunate to have seen England win 2 world cups in the last 4 years as I don’t think it’s happening again any time soon

How long will England cricket live off the past World Cup wins,

Only this week we have seen central contracts handed out again to players that should be saying my time is up.
Like any good sports team that wins at world levels in their field, They should be looking to the next one straight after winning, Most of the England team are over 30 with only Brook added for this tournament,

We all know what will happen in the inquest to this World Cup, NOTHING. As I said the central contracts have already been handed out so the same players will just carry on

Sad seeing the decline of our once magnificent One Day team. Suppose its the price we pay for not taking the format seriously the last 4 years. Don't think we have gone into a single bi-lateral series with our strongest XI.

Simply put, we don't have the bowling attack in these conditions without Jofra to carry so many woefully out of form batsman. Bairstow, Root, Buttler & Stokes used to have opposition bowlers suffering breakdowns and they haven't produced a game winning innings between them. Only Malan has come in and scored runs.

Hard to be harsh on some of these players, they certainly don't owe us anything with some of the memories made over the past few years, but its definitely time to get some new blood in. We might have to give some of the youngsters a long rope as they adjust to international cricket but there is still plenty of talent there imo.

They’re looking slimmer than this morning.

Let’s try again.

Do you disregard City’s trophies won on penalties?

No

but like I said we won them on penalties fair and square, The England vs NZ 2019 final was a farce for a couple of things like the 4 of Stokes bat from a throw and the Superover tie ?? How can you win on boundaries scored it is so wrong, it's like saying it's 5 out of 5 for each team, Now we go to how many corners you won ??

A Superover should be a Superover, If the scores are level go again with another Superover until somebody wins

The rules were in place beforehand. It was won fair and square.

What you want the rules to be is totally irrelevant.

Not so, All I want it to be is fair

If the scores are level and you have to play a super over then let the super over decide the result, So just keep playing a super over until somebody wins, Crazy way to win or lose on Boundaries scored.

PS

Stokes 4 off from hitting the bat after the throw-in runout chance should not have counted meaning England would have lost

It was fair. The rules were there all along. New Zealand knew they had to score more in the super over.

The butterfly effect of Stokes’ bonus runs suggests you have no idea if Stokes would have hit two 6s and we won without a super over.

However you try to call it unfair and unwarranted, England won the ODI final.

Guess we should relinquish the World Cup of 1966 too as the ball didn’t cross the line.
