It was you, and our batting and bowling are both shite, in my honest opinion

Won't re-open that debate. Our batting can improve but the score today shows we've got good power. I'd like to see a bit more nous in terms of rotating the strike and not just chasing boundaries every ball. Bethell faced 20 deliveries, 9 were dot balls. He needs to be a bit more capable at finding the gaps and running 1s and 2s rather than looking for a 4 or a 6 each ball.

Bowling wise we're miles off it though. Italy were facing a huge total and had to swing from the hips to chase it. Despite an excellent start, we've served up some absolute filth again.

IMHO the top 5 all failed, none of them seems to have the ability to hang around and keep their wicket in tact. Oh for Joe Root.

Edit I appreciate we have very different views on Englands batting. I hope we come good in the super 8’s, assuming we get there!

Update from Cancun - unfortunately, the limited cricketing resources are unavailable in the hotel much to my disappointment yesterday (to be fair to the lad trying to sort it, he was fucking about with it for a good half hour trying to sort).

Congrats the Indian lads staying in the hotel who managed to enjoy it crowded around a phone - the fixture deserved the big screen.......... :-)

Unless something distractly changes in the next few days England will get pumped in the super 8 games

It shouldn't be too hard to change tbh.

The problem seems to be that with such a deep batting lineup everyone is being a bit loose with their wickets once they get started, but as soon as the games get more serious you'd expect them to feel more pressure to not get out.

Similarly with the bowling, they're just being a bit loose with some deliveries, and you'd expect once they feel like the pressure is on, that will tighten up.

It's definitely not been a great group phase but I think the fact so many of the batsmen are getting in regularly and then holing out around 30 is not in itself a terrible thing.

Marsh’s ability to drive through the covers and extra cover is brilliant to watch. Leathers it through extra when it’s full to him.
