Super 8 seeding is below. The "x" teams form one group, the "y" the other. Top 2 go to semi finals. If any of the 8 do not qualify, the team that does from its initial group takes its place. Teams in bold have qualified.

X1 India, X2 Australia, X3 West Indies, X4 South Africa
Y1 England
, Y2 New Zealand, Y3 Pakistan, Y4 Sri Lanka
Does that mean we’re getting South Africa wherever we finish in the group?

Australia? Replaced by Zimbabwe?

In the Super 8?

We play Sri Lanka for definite. NZ and Pakistan or whatever sides qualify at their expense.

Win the group we play 2nd from the India group (X teams).

It was seeded based on world rankings when the initial draw was done.
Kind of means the WI win was a bit moot. Hopefully football doesn’t use that method any time soon.

So does this mean that had those 8 teams qualified (which I think they have other than Zimbabwe over Australia) the super 8 groups are already decided, irrespective of finishing first or second in the group? If so do you know if this was done to ensure Pakistan ended up with SL rather than India?

Yes, place in the group didn't matter you go in the pre-assigned slot.

The Super 8 groups were done on pre-tournament world rankings which were:

1. India (X1)
2. England (Y1)
3. Australia (X2)
4. NZ (Y2)
5. South Africa (X3)
6. Pakistan (Y3)
7. West Indies (X4)
8. Sri Lanka (Y4)

So in theory you get two evenly split Super 8 groups.

Our fixtures are:

Sri Lanka (Sunday 9.30am)
Pakistan (Tuesday 1.30pm)
NZ (Friday 1.30pm)

Based on World Rankings we should progress comfortably. Based on how we're playing, we won't. But things can change very quickly. Winning the first game puts us in a great position, but it would be typical England to beat them 3-0 in the warm up then lose the critical game!

Subcontinental political bullshit comes to UK Cricket.

The league that brands itself on inclusivity now excluding people based on their nationality.

This should be a massive scandal. It's completely illegal and demands serious answers from the ECB about letting international ownership into cricket, particularly when it's going to be used as a political weapon by India.

That’s absolute fucking bollocks. ECB needs to step in here.

Also, when did we become the “super giants” other than the originals? Seems a bit naff

100% agree! But what can they do? It’s all about money as usual!

I haven't studied the Pakistan fixtures this year but there could well be a clash like there was last year when also zero Pakistani players were picked. And also there generally being a lack of Pakistani players of quality worth signing.

This was the article about it last year -

But despite all that the gut tells me something stinks about the whole situation and we won't see any Pakistani players for a long time...
