Crisps you miss

Jakes pub crisps. They had a the old fashioned pint pot on the packet and they were the King of crisps. My dad used to bring me a couple of packets back from the pub in the 70s.

KP Beef crisps. You can still find these at pound shops and places like wilkos. They are about 10p a packet and the best crisp currently available.

Rancheros - I seem to recall they were bacon tasting, sometime around the late 70's, probably illegal now.

Not sure if you can still get them, but a favourite of mine were Salt 'n' Shake with the blue bag, and I remember once the salt bag changed to red, but it wasn't for long. It went back to blue again. Nice crisps they were.

I remember the original crisps which were Smiths, way before what you are describing, I don't recall any other brands at all at the time.Smiths had a salt bag, blue that was twisted at the top.

If anyone can tell me where I can find ANY variation of these crisps then I would be forever grateful!

I got a full box of these from one of them discount shops you see dotted about (russian Wagon Wheel, shampoo, etc) last year. The salt and vinegar ones too.

It must of been a dream, ive just spoken to Burtons foods, they still have the equipment and havnt sold the recipe and stopped making them 7 yr ago.

or have i been a victim of snide crisp traders ?

I remember them as smiths too. the logo was a couple of vertical red lines and a couple of horizontal blue ones.

I also remember when KP launched their Spring Onion crisps, well nice there were.

You still get them, I had a packet of T-bone steak not too long ago, they were lovely.

One I certainly don't miss is Tudor's Chocolate Flavour crisps, disgusting things.

I dont know if you could get them in the UK but a old favourite of mine was Snax Crisps.

They were lovely on a piece of bread a crunchy crisp.

Aye, Citybhoy 2 thumbs up. Any crisps where you can add the salt to your own desired taste, takes some beating in my opinion. Would be good if all crisps came with the seasoning, so you could adjust to your own taste buds.

Seriously though, I've had crisps before and there's hardly been any flavour, and I've had salt and vinegar, where there has been so much my eyes watered.

Yeah I emailed them and they said they're now focusing on making biscuits instead. Do they not realise the huge demand for these crisps?!

The shop near us ( Oldham ) sell quarter backs / beef oxo's and tangy toms. They were made by buttons but now golden wonder make them. Buy them by the box the kids love'em but the misses goes mad at me :-)

A lot of those crisps you can still get quite easily - frisps, twists, brannigans, space raiders, ringos etc...I haven't seen fish n chips and quarterbackers for donkeys tho!

A lot of the good ones are taken but I'll vote:
crunchy fries (bacon) -you an get these in random leisure centres tho!

snaps
