Crisps you miss

While the wilderness years - when roast Beef Monster Munch was cast on the scrap heap - were hard to take. I reserve most of my food mourning for these items:

Along with Cadbury's Top Deck it presided over a golden age in white and milk chocolate relations!

Fish 'n' Chips were great though.

Most of the crisps mentioned are still available. Burton's crisps went tits up about 10 years ago as they weren't making any money so puffs, fish & chips and football crazies were no more. The redmill/tayto group bought out golden wonder not long back and brought back ringos and quite a few more retro snacks back in January.

Gutted.some clown from burton should re start that business.just look at what(I now count the number 1 crisp company) have done.....SEABROOK
That is a mega crisp, very rare you'll buy a pack with a snide amount of flavouring.no matter what flavour you buy! and they're cheaper than the (so called) major brands.

perhaps with burtons it was the cost,as it was more like a chedder, than a crisp. sad,sad day, knowing i'll never eat another fish and chip!!!!!

Last had these when I was about six...

Marks and Sparks Barbecue beef crisp were fooking gorgeous.

For some weird reason they stopped making them the other year...bastards.

And a big shout out as previously mentioned Burtons crisp. They were quality as well.

Anyone remember 'Chipmunk' crisp they used to sell at the match?

Football grounds and Broughton baths were probably the only places i can remember that used to sell them.

These were dished out with the free milk when I was at junior school in the late 70's, early 80's. To hell with apples and other fruit variants, kids craved salt & vinegar (or beef) savoury snacks for breakfast/brunch. Then Maggie decided kids really didn't need a government sponsored calcium fix so the free moloko was scrapped. Puffs survived a few years more and we washed them down with full strength cola at playtime. Bliss.

Around the same time my mate's Dad was employed by Smiths. As well as being a sales bod, he was a Monster Munch monster on tv! His garage was always full of crisp boxes and we took advantage! He was a very popular friend. Crisps are an important part of your life when you're 10!

Christ, I'd forgotten all about Bones and Fangs.

Chutney flavour Outer Spacers

McCoys Specials - Thai Sweet Chicken (probably still available but not seen them for a year or so)

And I liked Sweetcorn relish flavour Skips but they only did them for about a month as far as I remember.

Ringos may still exist but I reckon they changed the texture of them dramatically and made them worse in the early 80s. I had a packet of Nice N Spicy Nik Naks a few weeks ago too and they having fucking destroyed them! I don't know if they have gone lower salt or something but they were almost tasteless.
