Hoping otherwise but think Belgium will fluke their way through, could even top the group and avoid a spanking from Spain in the last 16.

A nice early exit for either kdb or gundo would be a welcome bonus, we've not had anybody knocked out yet.

It looks like Belgium have done an England and ruined their golden generation with Martinez at the helm. This is probably the last world cup for most of them, looks like a lot of infighting as well. Going out early might actually be the best thing that can happen to them.

Not for me. I've watched England for 40 years and been through 3 "golden generations" where we were supposed to win the WC according to our media. Each time we've failed, miserably, depressingly, penalties, embarrassment.

This time round, for the first time in my life, we've got a manager and team who has got us to semi's, final, we're leaving the group stage with as many points and goals as the best of the rest. Sure we might not win it, but considering the last 40 years or so its been the best ever time to support my country.

I cant be arsed with all the media-triggered haters and moaners, it just brings out all the negative people who get by complaining at everything... Its been the best England have played for generations and I'm enjoying it as much as possible.

Beglium to crash out - Martinez to finally get sacked.
Canada are out basically?

England have underachieved because of the lack of tactical nous. We always get overrun in midfield against big teams as a result.

It’s slightly better now, but we saw the same fragilities against the USA.

If we ever get midfielders that can play Pepball, we will win one of these tournaments.

Wherever Pep manages, he improves their national side.

Barca 2008-12. Spain Euro winners 2008, 2012. World Cup 2010

Bayern 2012-15 Germany World Cup 2014

City 2016- England get as close as they ever have been since 1966.

We don’t have much time left.

Unless Pep manages England :)

Modric to give Kev a week or two holiday.

I suspect so, whilst it's a shame that a player of Kev's stature doesn't get to add a WC final to his honours, he's certainly not the first great player not to have a WC winners medal and he won't be the last. Whether it was advisable to say what he did or not, it was sadly accurate. It sounds like he's had a thoroughly miserable time, so I'll be glad to see him back if that's how it pans out.
