Croatia v Spain

Monday 28th June 2021

Kicks off at 17:00 (BST) at the Parken Stadium in Copenhagen, Denmark. 67% capacity, approximately 25,000.

Coverage begins at 16:15 (BST) on ITV 1, no other information so far.

Referee: Cuneyt Cakir (TUR)

CROATIA

They started the tournament slowly losing to England, they were okay versus the Czech Republic getting a draw and they were closer to their best versus Scotland. Luka Modric was in fine form finding the top corner with an excellent effort. They could frustrate Spain and cause them problems, feels like the sort of game they could get a result in. However, the latest news coming out of their camp is that Ivan Perisic has tested positive for Covid-19 following the game versus Scotland, so who knows what implications that’s going to have on this game.

Form at Euro 2020:

England 1-0 Croatia
Croatia 1-1 Czech Republic
Croatia 3-1 Scotland

Euro 2020 goal scorers:
Ivan Perisic – 2
Luka Modric – 1
Nikola Vlasic – 1

SPAIN
Almost an identical start to Croatia, they started the tournament slowly only picking up draws in their first 2 games but in their last game versus Slovakia they were close to their best. The created chance after chance and Slovakia were lucky to only concede 5, hopefully they can play this freely for the rest of the tournament. They are going to need to as there’s a good chance they will play France in the quarter final. Also, they need to find a penalty taker! Hopefully they're up for this game as Croatia are the sort of team that could frustrate the life out of them, similar to what they did to England in the first game.

Form at Euro 2020:
Spain 0-0 Sweden
Spain 1-1 Poland
Slovakia 0-5 Spain

Euro 2020 goal scorers:
Own goal – 2
Alvaro Morata – 1
Aymeric Laporte – 1
Pablo Sarabia – 1
Ferran Torres – 1

5 days after playing Scotland (who totally, definitely weren't in close contact with Billy Gilmour) Ivan Perisic has tested positive for coronavirus and the Croatian plans for this game are all up in the air.

This is not a good look for Scotland IMO, might see it blow up. 5 days is the exact average time it takes to test positive after infection, so chances he got infected the day of the Scotland game are pretty high.

It was always suspect that no one in the Scotland camp needed to isolate after Gilmour's positive test, would be interesting now to know what advice they were given by PHE (especially as England were advised by the same people and came to the conclusion they did have to isolate 2 players)

Noticed you'd put this up in the Netherlands-Czech Republic thread, think you might have misread the teams but didn't want your post going missing so stuck this up and moved it here.

Perisic missing for Croatia is gutting for them. Not a good look on the footballing bodies if he did pick it up at that game.

Thanks I realised what I'd done as soon as i saw it had been moved.

I know it's probably the same in other countries with their respective teams but for roughly 30 minutes of build up could you actually talk about Spain and Croatia and not England again, ITV?
