After two sellouts, the crowd v West Ham will be very telling, I think.

It's a Monday night, on TV, not the most glamourous opponents and not too many away fans.

Over the last few years we'd have got less than 38-40K for this one.

It will be a good benchmark as to how many of the stay-aways are returning.

My guess is we'll get 43,000.

A lot of season ticket holders who aren't in the north-west area will find it hard to make monday night games, i still reckon the place will be heaving if we beat that lot this Sunday though.

I think ST holders are still counted even if they don't attend.
IIRC, in the old days, clubs paid a levy to the Football League based on tickets sold so you paid even if a ST holder didn't actually turn up. It could be that the same applies today. Probably explains why the Kippax used to be heaving and the attendance was less than capacity.... not saying that the club deliberately under declared the attendance to avoid paying the full levy but you never know. It was a lot of cash on the turnstiles in those days.
