Great place, been going for years since it re-opened and always a top stop offo nthe way back from games.

I know during lockdown it has been taken over and they have renovated and all, I went in(well outside) the other day and the ppace is looking smart.

But heres the kicker, I bought a session ale, only 3.8% nowt fancy, something you would get in the angel/castle/city arms etc for about £3.90 a pint.

Fucking £5.30 it was, I spoke with someone who hadbeen day before had their lager and a double gin, £12.90 forthe two.

Sorry I know that NQ can be pricey and the creep of those newly residing in ancoats is expanding beyond cutting room sq, but with the shammy re opening as a holts house next season and the reliable old gullys, castle and fringe about this place is off my go to list.

Shame as I love the place but I ain't paying a fiver for a pint of bitter

will probably be the new normal mate - the licensed trade has lost and been loaned an awful lot of dosh over the last 15 months so make a lot to make up. Wait until you go for a haircut or similar - new prices will be in place.

Long run that'll surely do more to harm things. People wont mind a bit of a hike initially in catching up with mates for the first time in ages etc, and excitement at being out again, but pretty sure no one I know would willingly go such a place after the novelty has worn off.

Is a nice place too.

Left there went to the hairy, 2 pints £5.80, went to guilty by association, pint of larger £4.20, new oxford bexley sq paid £3.90 for a session ale and £4.20 for a stronger cask.

All what I would normally pay pre Covid did.

On a match day there can be up tp 7-8 of us go out and have a post match pint or two in there, at the new prices for what was nowt special beer or ABV wise, we have all agreed it is off the list, rather sit in gullys or castle, or wander up to the marble.

I am fine paying more to help the boozers after a tough 20 months, but, for me these prices are ridiculously high, especially when you go to liverpool/sheffield/leeds/york etc, in general Mancunians get a bums rush price wise compared to other big cities of the north
