Johan Cruyff 'diagnosed with lung cancer', say reports in Spain
Netherlands great Johan Cruyff has been diagnosed with lung cancer, according to reports in Spain.

Radio station RAC1 and Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo have said the 68-year-old was diagnosed on Tuesday and is currently undergoing tests to discover the extent of his illness.

Cruyff helped his country reach the World Cup final in 1974.

He also won three consecutive European Cups with Ajax and went on to play and manage at Barcelona.

While in charge at the Spanish club, he led them to their first European Cup win in 1992 and the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1989.

They also won four consecutive La Liga titles from 1990-91 to 1993-94.

Widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all time, the three-time Ballon d'Or winner had double heart bypass surgery in 1991.

His last managerial appointment came at the Catalonia national team, where he was in charge from 2009 to 2013.

great player. I'm sure he was smoking a tab when turning players in his pomp?

Great Player.... Say's alot about how much of an impact he has had on this game when he finished playing long before I was even born.
I often found myself replicating the cruyff turn in the school playground (even though in the 90's he was old enough to be my Grandfather)

Great player, probably one of the few in that Dutch side of the early 70's who didn't need the handfuls of "speed" dolled out by Rinus 'The Chemist' Michels before games. Smoked like a chimney until his heart nearly packed in altogether. Quad bypass sorted it and he's not touched a tab since. Hope the condition isn't too serious and responds to treatment.

Will always be remembered for that turn. I remember seeing it as a youngster and thinking WTF ???? In those days there were few replays and I recall it was raining so the pics were a bit grainy but post match I sat really close to the screen trying to see what exactly he had done then of course next time we all had a ball at our feet we were trying to replicate it. That moment was probably the same as the effect of Hungary beating England at Wembley in the 50's - a real game changer.

Hope the prognosis is good and he responds to treatment well.
