His biggest obstacle is overcoming Pep’s “I just dont see him in this team” position.See, here's my problem. Kalvin Phillips may or may not be a good footballer. His fellow professionals from other clubs rate him by the way. He may not be up to the standards required in what is certainly in the top three club teams in the world, and arguably at the very top. So be it.
But whether he perfoms well or poorly tonight, this will establish very little. He's in a team with only three recognised stalwarts in it — Akanji, Grealish and Stones. I just don't see what it will prove.
it doesn't have to prove anything. he's getting a game in a meaningless tie to play a bit of football and give others a rest. no need to think any deeper than that?See, here's my problem. I’m pretty sure they said last night that coverage of our game is “from 5.30”.TNT is fucking shite.
13 minutes in we've heard about Celtic, how unlucky United are and a Jude Bellingham wankathon. Briefly touched on how we have never given Kalvin a chance. After the break we are going to talk about Newcastle!
I think his performance tonight is irrelevant, seems Pep has made him mind up and we know what a stubborn bugger he is. He could score a hat-trick then go in goal for the second half and save 3 penalties and he'll still be on his way in JanuarySee, here's my problem. He's still coming back to match fitness, I'd play him as long as the pitch isn't horrific and the opponent's not going to go flying in.Does Stones really need game time. Would rather rest him and worst case bring him on for a late run around
Yep. You wouldn't have got me out there.
He's young scrappy and hungryHope he doesnt throw away his shot
