Crvena Zvezda (H) | CL | Post Match Thread

I said to my lad when walking up to the game it's never going to be the same, The comedown can be very painful and it's where you'll find the proper fans still loving the club, But we are now the big boys in Europe and rightly so, last night game sort of turned out to be Giants vs David and we was never going to lose even after they scored,

So, I am taking it all in my stride and enjoying the ride, it's a joy to watch Manchester City and when or if the come down happens you know what? I am going to take in my stride as well

I really enjoyed that performance. It was composed and incredibly productive as far as chances created was concerned. Yes, it could have been 6 but goalposts, bars and keepers making saves sometimes happens.

What has really struck me is how well the new boys have just slotted in so seamlessly. They all look like they came through our academy. Another aspect of the new signings is how it combats complacency - these lads haven't won a treble and have never won the premier league - they will be desperate to win stuff. It was true of Jack a couple of years ago and Erling and Julian last season. Not to mention Sergio, who will want to contribute more this year and has started superbly.

This odd narrative, from some of our fans as well as the media, that we didn't play that well is mental. We played fantastically well, created around a chance every 2 and half minutes, the goalkeeper had a worldy (barring the 2nd goal) and we still won 3-1. Its very odd.

There were some odd views on the Matchday forum. Until we went infront, half of the team were shit apparently and we were playing terribly according to some.

Well, odd views are anything but odd on the matchday forum! I've removed myself from that this year, barely checking it at half time, i'm not immune to a stupid comment or 3, but it's a place where nothing good happens. It's basically the upside down from Stranger Things.

Had Jonathan Pearce commentating on my stream last night.
Kyle Walker called Des.
City scored the most more PL goals team but not top yet.
Mentioned our spending 3 times...cost of squad compared to RBB, cost of our subs and something else he muttered about that slip my memory.
I felt something odd about his commentary, I actually wondered if he was at the ground or watching in a studio somewhere. Sounded like he couldn't be bothered.
Surprised there haven’t been more comparisons between Des and Kyle. Both insanely quick and strong whilst both loving a night out.

We should reprise the “You’ll never beat Des Walker“ chant using Kyle’s name.

Let me guess; it'll be Joe Root's fault, yeah?

;-)

Popped on at half time, read some absolute horseshit from the usual suspects, reminded them that we battered them in that first half and would win the game at a canter.
Haven’t seen many of them on the post match thread funnily enough..

There is a weird juxtaposition though. We played pretty well last night and created loads, whilst we didn’t look like we were trying very hard!

We’ve reached a stage where we will comfortably, but should have put up a cricket score.

Come the end of the season, this game will have been forgotten.

According to them “ playing well “ means boat loads of goals and ignore rest of the game. What happens in the back , middle and sides of the pitch means absolutely nothing to them.

Season's a marathon not a sprint. All is good, 3 points and a decent performance.
