Crystal Palace (H) Post Match Thread

It's a black day. We're under pressure now. Leicester could kill us, or we could come roaring back and win this league comfortably.

I agree, it’s going to take a huge effort to overhaul that loss. If we lose to the foxes, we will struggle to recover.

Pep needs to stop fucking about with playing Stones in midfield, he said that he thought stones was good v Leicester..I don't agree with that.
Stones needs to be played at centre half alongside Laporte, we looked great with the two of them there early season.
Walker looks like he's running on empty.. mentally tired as well as physically.
We don't need to panic as we all know the season has lots of twists and turns.
Blind Pugh is a fucking awful ref..

Exactly right. Stones might be comfortable in possession, but a dynamic midfielder he is not. He barely got out of the centre circle against Leicester, and to repeat that mistake today was folly on Pep’s part, particularly given that Gundogan, who’s not exactly fleet of foot, was one of the other two in central midfield, and the opposition had bags of pace. Walker’s a car crash at the moment and needs a rest. We look leggy and it’s only December and there’s no question that injuries have taken their toll

Anyway, I've noticed a bit of a trend over the last month. Teams are doubling our wingers (Sane and Sterling) it seems they've concluded they are willing to let us have it in the middle, but don't ever wanna a 1 v1 against their defenders out wide.

Pep needs to solve this problem

Agreed.

Also don’t help that Wan Bissaka is lightning and looking like a world beater in the making imo.

Easily the best right back in the Premier League. Sane played well but met his match today. I think Pep underestimated Palace's full backs because we were never going through the middle without Silva and De Bruyne.

To be fair though. Not sure more space through the middle would be an option for them if Debruyne and Spanish Dave were for.

How anyone can blame Ederson for those goals i'll never know. First goal was a clean strike into the corner under the defenders legs, who should have stopped it (Walker). Second goal, no keeper is saving that. 3rd was a pen and is a game of chance, some you win, like last year, some you lose.

For the life of me i don't understand Pep's decision to play Stones in DM for this game, all i can guess is he didn't want to risk De Bruyne. I would have started him and taken him off around 60mins and had Gundogan playing the pivot, allowing us to put some faster balls through their lines.

Walker had an awful game to add to his history of mistakes this season. I'm of the opinion that we need another right back that can actually challenge for his spot, at the moment he thinks he's the best right back in the world and he is so relaxed that it fucks everything.

We have to win all our following games and hope that Arsenal can get something from them, it's not beyond the realms of possibility. It's just a real shame that the intensity from some players has dropped and their self belief is being channelled in a negative way, in my opinion. The Chelsea game should have been a kick up the arse but this 100% is a punch and a kick up the arse (eurgh).

Pep messed up Today.

As has already been posted, Stones is a centre half, not a defensive ball playing midfielder.

Walker and Delph have been playing poorly over the last few Weeks.

Sane and Sterling were played too wide Today.

Stating the obvious. Losing Kev, Dave, Sergio and Fern is killing us. Especially Dave.

If we don't take maximum.points from Leicester and Southampton, the game against Liverpool could be academic. We could be 10 points behind by then?(Liverpool at home to Newcastle and Arsenal) Could be?

Kevin will solve that issue. Extremely vibrant today, and technically gave two assists if it wasn’t for some of his teammates making a mess of them. We definitely had plenty of 1v1 situations but Sane and Sterling refused to run/dribble multiple times.
