Crystal Palace (H) Post Match Thread

Lack of hunger, it's that simple and it's why retention of the title is nearly impossible. Too many of our players assuming past performance gives us a 2 goal head start.

I’d say we’re understandably struggling due to key injuries... regardless of strength in depth, losing 4 of your most creative players, in one timeframe, would damage any side. It’s december so I’ll refrain from waving the white flag just yet, I’d also prefer our slump now than in March/April. Even in Peps first year, especially after a down period, we responded in kind, we’re the one team in this league who amasses points in bunches...

We need to just stay on the coattails of the dippers, there is not a chance they continue this form right though, history shows us this, we’ll come again and all signs from KDB is that he’s beginning to purr, despite the result today!

Really gutted about the result, media blackout for the next few days, but I’m going to enjoy Xmas, recharge & we go again on Boxing Day.

Don’t be too disheartened, we got this.

Come On City.

Just like 2012 and 2014 certain individual players are "dining out" on last season and are not motivated 100%.

Thought Pep got the team selection all wrong today. No way is Stones a DM, nearly all of his passes were erring on the side of caution with mostly backwards and sideways passes.

I think I was most disappointed with Bernardo's performance to be honest, with David Silva being out, I was hoping Bernardo would try to provide the link up play that David usually plays, but we rarely saw Bernardo come into that space in between Palace's midfield and defence and try to build attacks from there.

There was simply no "chemistry" between our three midfielders, they played like a reserve midfield, because on this evidence, they were.

Phil says hi

No he chose the wrong starting lineup.
Can argue about line up all night, fact is the starting line up would have won 9 out of 10 times today. 2 goals of the month and a stupid penalty made it that 1 out of 10 unfortunately. Referee ensured that Palace had the best chance possible - does anyone think he would have been as favourable to the away side at anfield in similar circumstances? Would he fuck, and there would have been a min of 6 mins added on time.

my dipper workmates are giddy as fuck

i have the misfortune of working with a Dipper and the nearest he gets to Klanfield is his sofa , when we beat them 5-0 last season he didnt mention football for a fortnight , but when they won 4-3 at Klanfield in January he was in the next day with his snide replica top with Steve G on his back. Dont worry about Scousers they can dish it out , but they dont like it up 'em.

No it wouldn’t Stones in DM failed Tuesday against an under strength Leicester what made anyone think it would work today?

For the first time this season I think they have a very decent chance. So have we but after recent defeats to CFC and CPFC we could easily lose again to Liverpool and/or Leicester and that would kill us off.

Last season was a one off, an atypical season. Now we're at one of the crucial moments in a season which will shape its outcome. The important thing for me is that we come out of the January game still in it.

Agreed, the margins however are very fine, if Liverpool win it, they’ll have to amass a points total in the 90s and most importantly avoid key injuries in their personnel.. it’s far too early to write this one...

Our performance levels are well below what they need to be to win the league, that is fact. Nobody has said sack the manager. You don’t need to be sarky ****. It’s a valid point to say it’s not really an “off day” when it’s been 8 or 9 below par performances in a row. By very definition it’s not an off day. It’s a trend.
Not being a sarky ****.
We, or that should say some, are becoming so much like those you all hate so much it’s frightening. Yeah we are having a bit of an off time. It happens.
The fact those who hate US love our current predicament, shows where we are.

I welcome the scouse challenge.

Come May, it won’t have been one for a month.
