Crystal Palace (H) - Post Match

I agree defensive questions should and no doubt have been asked but we could quite easily accommodate our erring defence if we managed to score more goals from the many goal attempts we generate.
Most of our shots do not even hit the target let alone test the goalie perhaps indicating our attack is just as careless as the defence.

If attack or defence improved in suspect areas we would win tight games. If both improved we would win every game.
You are correct in what you say. Looking again at the games we have drawn or lost, in at least 80% of these in terms of possession and chances we could have and should have outscored our opponents. In Pep's world our best defence is outscoring our opponents and we are not doing it.

BOLLOCKS are you a liverpool mole? Stones was not at fault for either, he got beat in the air at a corner not surprising as we are the smallest team in the league that some on here want to reduce even more, and it was De Bruyne who did not come out to catch 3 CP players off side, as for the second he was out paced by Zaha but he did not score the own goal, City`s defense was okay we were just very unlucky Cancelo was actually very good until the subs confused the team
I agree with all you say. It was not Stones fault that McCarthy won the ball in midfield and took out 3 defenders with his through ball to Zaha.

Jesus - I generally give this place a swerve after a poor result, but coming on here this morning and reading some of this thread is genuinely depressing.

When did our fan base become such a reactionary, entitled, melodramatic, disloyal bunch of prima donnas!

This is a man who, just 6 months ago, won a clean sweep of domestic trophies and built a side which entertained us with the best football this club has ever witnessed. He achieved all this to a backdrop of constant attacks from our parasitic, corrupt, elitist media, retaining a dignity through it all that is a credit to our club.

Clearly this season has seen a drop in form, and there are a number of reasons for this - not least the well documented injuries to key players, loss of form/appetite amongst others and at best bafflingly inconsistent - at worst corrupt - officiating.

It’s clear we’re looking at a rebuild - the spine of the team responsible for all our recent success has grown old and left under Pep - Vinny, Yaya, Joe, Zabba, Fernandinho, David and Kun - next season, we’ll only have two of those still with us, and only Zabba and Joe have been properly replaced. Some players need moving on too - I would include Stones, Otamendi and Sane in that list. That’s a huge squad overhaul, whichever way you look at it.

Who else out there has more clearly demonstrated they deserve the responsibility for that rebuild than the greatest Manager that most of us have been lucky enough to see at our club?

Surely he’s earned the right for a bit of faith and belief from our fan base after what he’s achieved here.
This is exactly why i started the thread about slagging the club off, including pep and the players,i completely agree with what you are saying

I agree with all you say. It was not Stones fault that McCarthy won the ball in midfield and took out 3 defenders with his through ball to Zaha.
To be fair that was just the mix up , if Cancelo had stayed with Zaha as he had done all game he would have matched Zaha`s pace and cut out the cross, Stones would have been in the middle and Fernandiho behind, it was just very unfortunate but very frustrating

At this rate the dippers will win the league in March and will be able to concentrate on the FA and CL cups, meanwhile we'll be struggling to get 2nd and thereby qualify for automatic CL group stage qualification having to play full strength in every competition, meanwhile the dippers rest players for their league games
We?

Sadly I dont see us winning the Champions League with Pep.

His inability to be pragmatic in Europe was his undoing at Bayern Munich in the Champions League. And so far has been his undoing with us.

3 campaigns in the Champions League have all been undermined by Pep inability to be pragmatic/defensive when needed. The suicide at Monaco away when we neither attacked or defended. And lost a healthy home leg advantage. That first leg at Liverpool the following season was another example of Pep shortcomings in Europe, conceding those goals by refusing to change our style.A gallant display in the second leg was not enough. The damage was done in the first Leg..

Last season we should have been European Champions.Yet again Pep inexplicably left our best player out the first leg.

This season minus Vinny and with La Porte injury we have been conceding to nearly every counter attack from shite teams like Wolves,Crystal Palace,Norwich,Newcastle.

Anyone who thinks we stand a chance in Europe with our defense is deluded.

Nail on head hit.

Think we look better at the moment with a 3-5-2 (ish) formation. We are too often exposed with just one hump upfield and the extra defender may negate this. With Raz off form at the moment I think we need to play Jesus and Sergio at home against teams like Palace
