Does anyone know what the rules are regarding red cards for the CS? As we're not technically in the season yet do they get disregarded or do they carry through to the season?

Don't think they do count for the season , no.

I seem to recall this being brought up , and answered on an Arsenal site about 3 years back.

Stupid if they aren't counted because that just gives the Rags licence to break Silva's leg and then miss the rest of the match but play first game of the season.

All cards administered in pre season friendlies/community shield count towards PL matches, only if they are played in the UK.

EDIT: In fact it might be worldwide. Didn't Vieria get a 3 game ban for the TC he picked up in the US last year? Think he did didn't he?

Have things changed from a couple of years back ?

The major changes ahead of the new campaign include:
•In exceptional cases only, the ability to reduce, or increase, on application, the standard punishment for red card offences*
•Sanctions, resulting from red cards shown in pre-season friendly fixtures, will NOT apply to competitive first team games

A red card will only count if it is for violent conduct. Bookings and other red cards don't count. That is according to Martin Tyler anyway.

Oh well i guess we can say adios to getting in via the fair play league after todays shambles.
